Jet Blue

There's quite a buzz about this airline. Who's flown on Jet Blue, and what did you think?

I love it and wish it would fly to Chicago. In all fairness I haven't flown on Swan or Ted and wonder how those will compare. I am a miles whore though so sometimes I take flights based on that and not how cool and cheap the flight is.

Ted is not much different from regular United -- just not as many destinations and somewhat lower prices.

I did notice on some flights they only give you a cup of soda instead of the whole can.

My friend Beth flew JetBlue to Tampa/St. Pete from EWR. She raved about it. Inexpensive and they have DirectTV; like a lot of the other airlines they have the monitor in the headrests in the seat in front of you, but they have CABLE. That right there is enough to hook me.

My best friend has flown the red eye on Jet Blue from Seattle to NYC a few times and he likes the airline! They do have great rates.

Well, actually they have DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) which transmits many of the same channels as cable.

They don't make cables that long, but the thought of a jet trailing a thousand mile long piece of wire is an interesting mind picture.

Hated Spirit. Cheap but lousy service and really lousy fellow passengers too.

Smartass. lol

Actually I understand them to have a brand of Direct TV called DirectTV Inflight. Its a modified service offering 24 channels. I think thats the coolest part of the whole damn thing. Seriously. 10 years and all the planes will be wi-fi as well.

Interesting bits of trivia for JetBlue:

Only aircraft they currently fly are Airbus A320s, though they have smaller Brazilian Embraer 190 regional jets on order.

All their aircraft have a name that includes the word 'blue', like Shades of Blue, Blue Danube. Song Sung Blue (the latter a dig at Delta's low-cost competitor Song.).

There are five different tail designs.

Sucks that they don't fly into DFW! :( (They'd get butchered by the 800-pound gorillAA of a certain AAirline based in Fort Worth. And it's not worth it to set up shop in Love Field, because of the Wright-Shelby Amendment and Southwest.)

I've flown JetBlue... and so has my mother, who always swore she'd never get on a plane. It's the only airline we use now, and the blue chips are great! :)

Rudey 07-18-2004 11:29 PM

Spirit is crappy like Southwest. ATA is like one level above that. I'd say Jet Blue is above that. I hear Song is supposed to be like Jet Blue where things are just a little cooler. I didn't know Ted was like United but now I do. Independent...no idea.

You know what I really want to fly on?

Service-wise, I'm having more and more trouble telling the inexpensive airlines from the older more established ones.

Anymore, as long as I experience as many safe landings as takeoffs, an airline is pretty much an airline.
