growing out short hair
Anyone have any suggestions on growing out short hair? I chopped my butt-length hair last summer (temporary insanity). Now it is short and layered and at that in between stage where I still can't put it into a pony tail. I've been doing the headband/barette thing but feel that's getting old. Thanks:D

Any suggestions for men growing out their hair?
I've contemplated growing it out and now that I'm a Flower Gurl for a friend's wedding in the spring I figured I might as well try. :D |
It depends on the thickness, but there are lots of types of clips that you could use to pull back the front pieces. You could do a cute scarf or kerchief to look cute and keep your hair out of your face. Above all, keep it well trimmed because otherwise your hair will look very ragged and unkempt. Invest in some hair scissors and spot-trim places that start looking rough.

i hate growing out short hair. i chopped all my hair off (a la Kerri Russell in Felicity) and hated it.....it took forever to get it back to a decent length again. i wore a lot of headbands and invested in bobby pins. because i live in the south and it's super humid the bobby pins would help hold the small pieces back so i could still pull most of my hair back on the yuckier of days.
like swissmiss said, keep your hair trimmed......also when you go, make sure you ask your hairdresser to trim a little more of the bottom layers. your underneath/bottom layers are more likely to grow quicker than the top layers and you don't want to end up with a mullet :) |
Yeah, I have been going like once a month for a trim. She usually trims the bottom and underneath, that way the rest of my hair can also grow out to be one length. I am aiming for the Julia Stiles look.

I'm growing my hair out and it recently mulletized, so I had to chop off the bottom again. I'm keeping the top and front longer so it can all grow to one length. This is taking FOREVER, but I've found that using hair wax is fun and cute (sometimes). You have to be kinda wild anyway for it to work, but you use the wax to make your hair go in different directions and stuff.

Make sure sure sure you get the underneath cut shorter - my sophomore year of high school I had a hair crisis, and then I foolishly cut off a bunch of hair my freshman year of college to spite my then-boyfriend. It wasn't a smooth move.

I cut off my hair in seventh grade, and it took until ninth before it grew to my shoulders. I went through a very awkward phase that lasted for over a year where my curly hair grew out and not down. Since your hair is straight, you probably won't experience this.
Supposedly shampoo that is used to wash the manes and tails of horses helps your hair grow faster, but I can't guarantee that. |
patience....this from someone who can't easily pull it off either.
