#1) What does that mean exactly? The question as written doesn't make any sense, and regardless each fraternity and sorority is set up in a different way.

#2) Phi Beta Kappa, December 5th 1776, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg VA

#3) NIC set up in 1909-formalized in 1910. NPC set up in 1902

#4) Another poor question, are we talking the first group, when everyone banned it, when NPC passed a resolution, when NIC said something?

#5) EDIT: It's actually Penn State with 88 - I apparently can neither count nor type b/c I originally counted 94, yet put 84...

IowaStatePhiPsi 07-13-2004 10:22 AM

doesnt U Penn have 88 GLOs?

I think you're thinking of Penn State, not U of Penn.

1.??? Question is strange. If you meant how they are structured, the answer would be, it depend which organizations you are talking about. Each organizations have different structures. But in general, most of Board of Trustess, which have you president, vp, etc. etc., then you have those who runs thing day to day. These day to day people are your Executive Directors, the different directors Traveling Consultant, and your other staff members.

Betarulz! have answered 2 and 3 already.

4. Depend on what you meant. Are you talking about individual organizations or even individual States or Schools?

5. Either Penn State or U of Illinois.

Re: Re: Greek Quiz

Let me clear up those two questions:

1. How does International Greek frat/soro are set up?
I mean how does it happen to make it international?? what do you have to do in order to become international, lets say you are in Italy and you want to set it up.

4. When did hazing become offcially banned?
As a RULE that hazing will get you a red ticket off campus.

If you have a chapter in Canada, it's another nation. That automatically makes you "international." The way the chapters interact (or don't interact) with the schools might be slightly different, but for the most part it's run the same way as a chapter in the USA.

For the most part, "international" means Canada, not everywhere across the globe. (If other posters know of other locations in your GLO please post. :) )

#1:

No, actually, it can be complicated and it can be simple depending on how your international group's relationship to the US group is going to work out. You have to deal with repatriation of national dues, crappy stuff like that. Many GLO's in the US have chosen due to the complexity of setting up international chapters to just not do it.

#4: Depends on which organization you're talking about and in which state. I think umbrella organizations passed legislation about it at some point, and many states have anti-hazing measures. Universities have also developed their anti-hazing policies on their own time. You need to be more specific.

Again as KTSnake wrote, lot of variation:

I'll even go as far to say that hazing doesn't always mean a red ticket off campus. In the past three years I've been at Nebraska, two fraternity chapters have been caught hazing, and yet, both of them are still on campus. A lot of sanctions and reorganization yes, but not "a red ticket off campus". So by your definition, hazing hasn't been officially banned for those two chapters or at the University of Nebraska, if a ban means getting kicked off campus.

so all the questions are answered, its time for someone to make a new quiz. Betarulz! and KTsnake

If I'm not mistaken, I think Delta Zeta has chapters in the UK as well. I could be wrong, though. Someone correct me if I am.

Xylochick216 07-15-2004 12:37 PM

I think Sigma claims a chapter in Germany, too. I remember hearing about it during recruitment, and last time I checked, it was on their website.

If I'm not mistaken, all NPHC organizations have international chapters.

Zeta Phi Beta was the first sorority in Africa (Liberia):D

ragtimerose 07-15-2004 01:26 PM

Beta Sigma Phi, though not NPC or NPHC, has chapters in 30 countries.

Are your documents translated into the language of the country or remain in English?
