The new movie Legally Blond is based on USC DG's!!!
How funny - I was surfing the Legally Blonde movie web page and I noticed that the sorority was called Delta Nu and as was about to send a card I found this - "If you are going to join a sority, BE CAREFUL! If a rushee makes the wrong choice it can ruin the rest of your entire life. Delta Gamma is the best you can be." How true!! I had heard Reese went to Univeristy of Southern California to do research and obviously she discovered the BEST!!!

I just went and checked that out and you're right!
Yay! Go Delta Gamma! http://www.deltagamma.org/pics/brnzpkbl.gif |
Wow, I think that is pretty great!!! However, I wish there was more information about why that quote was included, and if the movie Legally Blonde really is based on Delta Gamma!!! If anyone has any additional info let us know!!!

Our Crest
Hey guys.. if you look closely in the beginning when they are showing Elle's president room.. there is a paddle and it has our EXACT crest.. except not our letters.. its awesome! you should definatley check it out..

And except the crest has a dog head (like her dog Bruiser :))
Cute movie! |
I dont think the movie was BASED on Delta Gamma, but the house scenes were filmed in a Delta Gamma house in California. There was a girl who was on MTV who did "Becoming Britney Spears" and she lived there and was a Delta Gam.

You know it's funny because before I read this thread and saw the movie in the theatre I thought to myself that it reminded me of Delta Gamma. Although the colors sorta reminded me of DZ (aren't they pink and green - I know AKA is). Anyhow, great movie and if that is indeed their house, it's beautiful!
Hootie PS. I saw that MTV show where the DG became Britney Spears! How funny! |
The woman that wrote Legally Blonde is an alumni of JMU. GO DUKES!

I talked to a Cali. DG and she said that Reese DID stay with USC DG's... And that they are exactly like the movie portrays them. Down to the Tiffany's bracelets. I don't know any USC DG's, so I don't know myself, but that's what the Cali. DG said. I think, though, if the colors were supposed to be pink and green (they never really said, just the sign out front is kind of a teal color) then it's probably so that it doesn't resemble DG too much.

Wow that is really awsome! I know the DN crest on the movie was exactly like ours but I had no idea that was our house! Does anyone know the legally blonde website? Thanks!

I have visited the house at U of Southern California (Alpha Nu chapter) and there are a LOT of similarities between Delta Gamma-Alpha Nu chapter and "Delta Nu" in the movie. I think DGs at USC was the source of the inspiration for Delta Nu! |
Just thought I might add... if you read the book Legally Blonde, which the movie is loosely based on, Elle really is a Delta Gamma. (The name was only changed to Delta Nu for the movie.) The woman charged with her husband's murder isn't a sister of Elle's in the book, though. She's a Kappa Alpha Theta. If I remember correctly, her stepdaughter (the real murderer) is a Kappa.
I think the author has it in for Kappas! :D |
Wow! That's neat? I'm surprised they were allowed to use the name of real sororties in the book. Do you know where I can get a copy of that book? Thanks for the info!

The book is "Legally Blonde" by Amanda Brown.
You can definitely get it through amazon.com, but since you're in Germany, maybe try amazon.de which is the German amazon. You might have some luck there in getting the book. ----------------- A few minutes later Yes, you can get it in English via Amazon.de I speak a bit of German, so just make sure that the copy you order is "Sprache Englisch" which means English Language... (Englische Bucher means Books in English) |
