Young alum dies at USM reunion
Jun. 28, 2004
Investigation continues into USM frat party death Associated Press HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Authorities are waiting for final autopsy and toxicology reports in the death of a Meridian man who was found unconscious outside a fraternity house on the University of Southern Mississippi campus. Former USM student Sammy N. Broadhead, 25, had been attending an alumni reunion at the Sigma Nu fraternity house on Friday, said USM spokeswoman Lisa Mader. Broadhead apparently went outside at some point during the party and was later found on the porch by Sigma Nu member Marcus Jones, officials said. Broadhead was taken by ambulance to Forrest General Hospital where he died, said county Coroner Butch Benedict. Benedict expects final test results by Thursday or Friday. Broadhead graduated from the university in 2002 and was employed at the Citizens Bank branch office in Meridian. |
Very sad for his family. It's very sad anytime a person that young dies. Hoosier, try to keep us updated on this one, okay?
Thanks. |
I was doing a search for my school and saw this. I work in the Greek Life office (VP in Panhellenic), so I can ask about any updates. We (the councils) were briefed about what happened, but it was before any reports came back. I haven't heard anything about it since.
