With a billion (1,000,000,000) dollars? One catch, you can't do anything charitable and you only have a year to spend it.


My father asked me this a while ago and I still haven't been able to come up with a very good answer. I guess I'd throw a party or something...

Usually when people ask this question they also add in the qualifier "And you can't have anything to show for it"

But without that - I'd go on the biggest shopping spree ever. All the original paintings and antiques I wanted. I'd have the hugest house built - and ensure that it's done in the year (after all, if I had a billion dollars I could pay for labour).

And I'd travel. While shopping. Oh, the duty people would hate me.

Easy. Id go up to a billionaire and buy a billion of his money and just keep that. :D

Or for a "real" answer Id buy a billion dollars worth of real estate. The first thing I would do would be buy all the houses that have been on Real World, then with the money left over Id buy places in all the "posh" parts of the large metropolitan areas of the world.

Or Id buy a major sports team. Im thinking either a NBA team or an English or Italian soccer team.

I would buy businesses that would generate the most profit. That way, I spent the money in less than a year, but I will be making money forever.

I would invest the money in large corporations & go on one hell of shopping spree!

Is your GLO consitered charitable???

Think of all your GLO could do with a few extra million...


Other then that, I'd buy a Broadway Theatre company and at least a share of the Met.

first comes the irs dudes and dudettes, then you can play -- generally after 50 percent has gone bye bye.

Before I was to receive the money, I'd get a PO Box in the Bahamas.

Then some of the above things would be fun with my full 1 bil.

If I can't do anything charitable...

- Make some investments, maybe some commercial real estate, or a company or three, that would generate a nice revenue stream
- Nice big custom-built house in a suburb of NYC (tasteful, though, not like these McMansions that are going in :rolleyes: )
- Vacation home in Hawaii
- Pied-a-terre in London
- Furniture and art for all 3 of the above homes
- My own private jet
- Trip around the world in said jet for me, my husband, and a few of our closest friends
- Shopping :D

Wow a billion ey;( if i could id give 10% to church and then) either a quarter or half would go into real estate and stocks, then the rest would b money to throw away on lavish houses, cars, and wut ever else i could spend it on.

Make the most expensive movie ever, with me as the director, producer and leading actor. guaranteed the money will dissapear.
