How many albums do you think they should have before they are allowed to released a Greatest Hits CD?

How many years before they should be together before they are allowed to release a Greatest Hits CD?

How many hits should they have?

Well you can't really say years because someone could be in the game 10 years and only release 3 albums in that time...

I would just say the quality of the artist. Their songs and their impact upon the culture and their genre of music.

And these songs must be classics. Meaning I can play your song 15 years from now and it sound just as good.

I don't know, but I do think it's absurd that Britney Spears is releasing one.

Probably because she know her career is in the toilet.

i read that the other day she was putting one out in the fall or something.. maybe to coincide with the wedding?

For any Bands/ Solo Artist, I say at least 10 Albums and/or 10+ years before they should considered releasing a greatest Hits Album

Does anyone feel old when a band/artist puts out a greatest hits album considering that you sort of grew up with the band?
I felt old when No Doubt released their greatest hits album.

I'll feel old if they released a double album Great Hists.

I agree with sigtau305, 10 years is a good amount of time.

I agree that you cant measure in years because some people dont release albums that often...

Id say an artist can release a greatest hits album when theyve had enough hits to put out a greatest hits album that is marketable, and people will buy.

maybe Britney is releasing a greatest hits album to end her career....*wishful thinking* i just do not like her anymore




anywho, Korn is releasing a greatest hits album. they have ten years of music and 6 awesome albums. so many memorable and groundbreaking songs. they opened up a new door for other bands in rock music. they deserve a greatest hits album.
