Grad School Blues

Hi, how many of you out there in Greek Land are Graduate Students?

Well I am and I am starting to get the Grad School Blues. I am so tired from doing all of this homework and studying. I just can not wait until I graduate this Dec. I am still an active member of my sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma. Normally my schedule does not get to me. But this summer I decided to take my last 4 grad classes. So they are all kicking my but. I am just so tired of doing work.

My sisters do not understand that grad school is a little different and I can not go out with them this summer as much as they would like. My main goal is to pass all my classes this summer.

Right now I do not have time to work out, to go out, etc. My room is a mess and my planner is a mess. But I am going to change that by just scheduling in some time to do things such as get a manicure, go out with friends, etc. If I don't I will go crazy.

Any one out there have Grad School Blues?
I am off to the library to do more homework.

I understand your blues. :( I JUST finished grad school about 3 weeks ago :D and until then, I thought I was going crazy. All i did was work and school, work and school, work and school. Had little free time for the basic things like cleaning my apartment or going to the grocery store, so a personal life was out of the question.

Now that I've graduated, I'm searching for stuff to fill all this new free time.

Those last 6 months will zoom by quickly.

Just remember that this too shall pass.............

:)

You are not alone. I'm taking some classes for the summer and I swear I have no time to myself to do anything besides study and freaking write:mad: I have one week left for these classes to end, then I'm going to veg out and do NOTHING!!

Unlike you, I have another summer before graduation:(

Hi Annice, I too can feel your *pain*. I just graduated in May after what I "mildly" classify as 3 years of "hell". It was extremely hard. I worked full-time in the evenings, did a 21-hour per week internship and took 3-4 classes each semester. I only slept like 3 hours per nite. I tried to put in some time for "free time activities" but it was really hard. A lot of people absolutely can NOT relate to the grad school experience. It's hard because unlike "most" undergrads whose only "job" is to go to school, we WORK as well. Grad school is a HUGE sacrifice and it is difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It will come though. I remember my last night of classes, it was such a surreal experience FINALLY being done. It will be a proud moment for you though when you are done, just think about that. THAT is what will get you through. What I always thought about was that I was the very first person in my family to get a Master's degree. My family, my friends and I know my D*Phi*E sisters were very proud of me. Be sure to surround yourself with POSITIVE people. Remember that you will have time for fun down the road with those of your carefree friends who are not as supportive. What are you getting your Master's in? If you ever want to vent, feel free to PM me.

In Greek Spirit,
Allison

Thanks Allison

I am getting my Masters of Science in Training and Development for Business and Marketing.

Hopefully I can find a job when I graduate.

I am sure you will do just fine. Do you have an internship experience as part of your Master's program? I know in Social Work most people find their first job this way.

I feel your pain about grad school.

One thing that I just gotta know...many people tell me that at this point that "I can see the light at the end of the tunnel." Yeah, right. I see no light...good grief...I don't even see a tunnel!

I hate grad school. I hate grad school. I hate grad school.

I will be done in December and it can't get here quickly enough!

Did I mention that I hate grad school?

I can write a book on how much I hate grad school. I hate it so much. If you want to waste a lot of money, go to Columbia's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. I have a "professor" (call me a snob, but I don't think people who hold only a MS should be called professors--lecturers is more like it) whose voice, to me at least, is the sound of thousands of dollars being flushed down the toilet. There's so much political bullshit between faculty, and guess who suffers? That's right, us. Good thing I love my internship and I have one year left, 'cause being a first-year analyst is sounding better and better each day.

Well, as one who will be in grad school coming up this fall, I can now say I'm even more scared.

Let's hope that my program, which is 1 1/2 years, and 4 semesters, at least is fulfilling even if i'm stressed to the max.

I'm also scared to start grad school in the fall. I've heard how horrible it is from those in it now (even in my program!), and I'm practically dreading it. I haven't even started yet and I can't wait to finish! LOL
