PNMs- Remember to consider all your options!
NPCs and NICs don't worry, not trying to steal your thunder. However, I just want to make the PNMs aware that they should consider all their options, including LGLOs, NPHCs, Service Fraternities/Sororities, etc. Also, for PNMs joining, Service organizations often accept members from NPCs and NICs... we have one member who is in a NPC sorority and also in Alpha Phi Omega. Wherever you go and whatever you decide, there is a home for you.

I would like to give a plug for Thet Nu Xi Multicultural, Delta Omicron sorority and SAI Sorority. There is also Phi Alpha Omega and Gamma Sigma Sigma Service Sororities. Often these wonderful groups are not listed anywhere on the schools Greek Pages so make sure to ask for them by name!

Great idea ladies! Definately check out all of your options (as if you need one more thing to do during recruitment...) -- I'm glad I did! I can't imagine going through college without my Gamma Sig gals!

Be aware that if you are considering joining an NPHC group, you must have a college GPA; that is, you cannot join as a first semester freshman. This is a rule at every campus.

This is great advice! (And Glitterkitty, thanks for the plug :D )
PNMs, keep an open mind about being Greek. Do keep in mind that there are all kinds of GLOs out there, not just NPCs: service, professional, also locals, and others. Each Greek chose their org/type of org because everyone wants something different from a fraternity/sorority. For instance, I chose SAI instead of an NPC because I loved the idea of having all my sisters being musicians like me! And other friends of mine in the music department chose an NPC rather than a music org because they wanted to be around people of DIFFERENT majors/talents then their own. And that's fine too. With being Greek, IMO, wherever you go...you can't go wrong. :) |
