summer sisters

hey Kappas! I was just wondering how you all keep your chapter in touch over the summer vacation. I heard a lot of chapters use Yahoo groups, (which I don't really understand  ).

Any other creative and useful ideas you girls use?

hope you're all enjoying your summers!!

Every summer on July 1st, we had to send a short paragraph on the details of our summer to one of the secretaries. She compiled them and sent out a summer newsletter on July 15th with what everyone was up to. Photos were included, and it was really neat to catch up on the going's on, plus we would often see pictures of childhood homes/families for the first time! I loved it!!

Our school's email system allows us to have a database that is for Kappas only at our school. We post frequently about what we have been up to along with other random stuff! :)

Postcards are a really cute idea! we don't have many girls, (between 30-35), so that could work.

Has anyone tried a chain letter type thing? maybe either through written letter or an e-mail, where one person can write a small paragraph saying how her summer is going or whatever, then send it to another girl who adds her own paragraph, then she sends both to another girl, and so on and so forth... then the last girl sends it to the original girl who send it back through the chain so everyone can see what everyone wrote. haha that is all very confusing, but hopefully you can follow it... I remember doing something like this in elementary school... anyone else try this, or even think it could work? haha

Our school email also allows us to send emails to the whole house or to just your pledge class. We get bi-weekly emails, but just really info about rush and stuff, not really how peoples summers are going. I love that newsletter idea! I've really only kept in touch over AIM with my pledge mom and some girls from my pledge class.
