Pi Phi Family Problems
 

So my Pi Phi family is falling apart. My grand sis got married and graduated, My big sis never comes around anymore and is dropping. SO! i took in two lil sis twins hoping to expand the family however! One struggled in school and actually had to quit school, but is going to rush again this fall so i'm hoping for her! and the other is wonderful but i'm not really tight with her at all! I see other's who click perfectly with their little's and i feel like the worst big sis in the world! ha. Am i over exaggerating or what can i do?

I don't think you should worry about it. When I first pledged it was my big sis and her 1st little sis and now in my senior year our family has 9 people. With almost everyone in the family going to take a lil next semester, so theres the fact that we can double.

I think you just need to try and get close with your little, you don't really have to have anything in common just maybe call her to talk see how her summer is going or if you live in the same town this summer go to lunch. My newest little are not that close but she knows I will always be there for her.

Also maybe talk with her about getting a little if you have recruitment coming up and I knew it always helped with my littles, grandlittles-whatever, if I went shopping with them to help get stuff for big sis revelation or initiation because they might not always know what exactly to get. It also gives you time to hang out.

I am very close with my big sister (was just recently a bridesmaid in her wedding) and then her big sister as well.. but with my little not so much.. Im not even invited to her wedding next weekend.. sometimes family stuff just doesnt work out..

I know we werent always that close, but I always encouraged her to take a little.. get more involved.. just tried to get her to do more stuff.. I always tried to get her to come out with others as well hoping that maybe she would have fun with others in the group..

i tried but we never really clicked even though we did in the beginning.. sometimes if they arent enjoying things on the other side there isnt much you can do.. she always had to hang out with her boyfriend.. which me im not that way at all..

she ended up taking a little however with encouragement and even though she still wasnt that close to either of us.. I actually became really close to my grandlittle and then my great grandlittle.. sometimes family stuff doesnt always work out..

Dont feel bad, my family is officially dead. My little had to leave school because of financial reasons and by that time I was already into my senior year....not mucyh time to get to know a new girl...My big and I still keep in touch though. Before my little left, she and I paid for a paddle for my big sister that said it was from her little and grandlittle....it was nice. My big came to my graduation....and even my senior art show....and when she was in school we didnt hang out much. I think we've become closer since she graduated in '02. At least something good came out of a family line that is now defunct :)

My family life in Pi Phi goes a little something like this . . .

Pledged Spring term of Freshman year . . . Got a very nice Big.
Took Fall term of Sophomore year off. While gone, Big left. Came back Winter term. No Big, No Little, No NOTHING.

Thankfully I have a very good Siamese Twin (we were the only Initiates that Spring Term) who is my family, even though she has family of her own.

I had a Little the following Spring, but she didn't Initiate, and then I had to stop attending school. She eventually Initiated and got a new Big.

So really I have no Pi Phi family nor did I ever really have one, besides Nasus333.

It always sort of made me sad. I always felt like I was missing out on the "real" experience. You know? Like I didn't have the connections to the other members that the other girls had. They had their families! I didn't. :(
