Lack of hygiene in restaurants (rant)
 

No wonder people get sick from eating out so often. Working in three restaurants I've witnessed a lot of nasty things that goes on in kitchens, but what I saw last night was outrageous. Last night I was walking past this sushi restaurant and I took a peep in the kitchen's window. I nearly gagged at what I saw.....this guy was using WOKS as MOPS AND BUCKETS. In wok #1 he had a dirty dish rag soaking in water used to clean the surfaces. In wok #2 he had water and a MOP sitting in it. I should file a report or something.

My older brother used to work at a Taco Bell.. and he used to tell me (after he quit) some of the nasty things that they did.. ICK.. I can't believe I ever ate there. *gag*

Please don't tell me stuff like that. I believe Dateline did a special on resturants...back when Wendy's had a salad bar. All kinds of insects just chillin' with the lettuce. :mad:

My father in law works for the telephone company and he always tells us what restuarants not to eat at because of their nasty kitchens

I worked at Taco Bell for over a year in high school, and I never saw anything bad. I think it just depends on how the managers are. One of ours transfered to a bad one to clean it up.

I've heard a lot of bad stories about a Chinese place in my home town. I actually knew someone who peed in the tea and then served it. She had issues, probably on something at the time.

Same here. Never saw anything gross the whole time I worked there. But I'm sure it varies from store to store. I know there are websites that you can look at to find inspection reports for restaurants in different areas... at least there is one for VA. I'm sure there's one for every state.
