Denver/Boulder, best for singles...
|
Interesting, but I can't say that I've been able to find one of these jobs they seem to think are so plentiful around here.
It's funny, but when I first moved out here I loved Boulder and didn't really care for Denver, but now I like Denver a lot more. Boulder is just REALLY full of itself. |

And I hear you about the jobs. My guess is that most are service oriented and fairly low paying. I do notice a lot of recent grads of my alma mater moving out here these days, though. A lot more than in the past. |
Not to rain on your parade, but I think that study only included the Bigger metropolitan areas. I read somewhere that Sacramento was the best for singles...

Could be, but I think Sacramento was included in the survey. If I find it, I'll post it.
In reality, I think you have to take all of these "surveys" pretty much with a grain of salt. Methodology, etc. are different, as are the questions asked. By the way, TV market size wise, Denver/Boulder is number 18 and Sacramento/Stockton is number 19 -- so the metro areas are probably about the same size. ETA Sacramento is number 31 on this survey: Special Report Best Cities For Singles Davide Dukcevich, 06.25.04, 8:00 AM ET 2001200220032004 Thanks to: ACCRA AOL CityGuide Montréal International Richard Florida Gary Gates Kevin Stolarick Viewpoint Woods & Poole Economics Looking for jobs galore, cheap beer and highly educated, unattached young people? Head for the mountains! The Denver-Boulder metro area is America's best place for singles. The Mile High City edged out larger metros like Boston and Washington, D.C., thanks to its booming job market, relatively low cost of living and large university population. Our annual listing of America's Best Cities For Singles ranks the 40 largest metropolitan areas in seven different categories: nightlife, culture, job growth, number of other singles, cost of living alone, coolness and public opinion.
