WHITE CHICKS: A Racist Movie?
 

Dear Everyone,

As I watched the ads and read the reviews on this film, a thought came to me: would the USA see this movie in the same, relatively harmless light as it does if this movie were called BLACK CHICKS with two white FBI agents dressed up as two Black women?

I wonder.

Do you think this movie might be tip-toe a tad on the racist side?

To answer your question..I'm sure if it were the reverse...the black community would say its racist. Sometimes we don't like to laugh at ourselves..as much as we laugh at other people.

I think this is simplifying things. Black people laugh at themselves as much, if not more than the next group. Go to any comedy club or just watch BET's Comic View for a while and you will see some racial humor targeted at blacks by blacks, some of it very stereotypical.

I agree with you, Eclipse. This sorta reminds me of some people's logic as to who gets to use the word niggah without repercussion.

Co-sign. Race is always a hair-trigger issue in this country. We walk a fine line when we expect a comedy, be it good or bad, to carry the bigger issue of racial pride (i.e. Barbershop2 -- Rosa Parks "controversy".) I don't know about White Chicks; it just didn't look funny to me so I don't plan to see it, but what do I know? I went to see Soulplane....:(

Oh you're absolutely right..when its black folks making the jokes...Black folks don't laugh much when other folks make fun of them...

Hotep BLACK Sisters & Brothers. I could care less if the PERCEPTION is given that "White Chicks" is a racist movie! Who in their right frame of mind should believe that a BLACK MAN can MAKE, PRODUCE, and DISTRIBUTE a RACIST movie in the JEWISH KKKontrolled HOLLYWOOD MOVIE INDUSTRY! For a BLACK PEOPLE to even concern themselves with such a debate is not only ludicrous but such is DUMB! The debate should be had on the SILLY/BUFFOON like nature that BLACK PEOPLE are forever embarking and pursuing in the movie/music industry. I yearn to witness a time when BLACK actors/actresses can PLAY positive roles that refrain from having them proudly being "hit from the behind by whitemen(Monster's Ball) and playing wifebeating blackmen(Tina Turner). In the meantime I hope BLACK HOLLYWOOD professionals MAKE as MUCH MONEY POSSIBLE and DONATE it to BLACK CAUSES (ie. MLK MEMORIAL, set up BLACK RUN residential facilities for BLACK CHILDREN who are wards of the State, etc.). The revolution is HERE! The STRUGGLE is FOREVER! Long Live Da Gorrilla!

Do you have a sister? Did you talk about her and beat her upside the head when you were younger? Did you stand by when others did it (whether she deserved it or not)? I would answer yes, yes (although sometimes I was the beatee), NO.

Kinda the ways of black folks to me. I can talk about "us" but you dang-on better not do it. THere is also, in my opinion a big different between laugher in love, and ridicule. Sometimes blacks do it (ridicule) as well, but you can almost bet when other poke fun at Black people it is not done in love.
