I was just wondering if "The Key" magazine just goes out to alums or if it also goes out to actives (I was just initiated in Nov 2003)? What made me wonder was that on our website, the log in for "just kappas" requires you to have a user name and ID, and then ID is on the back of "The Key" magazine. lemme know, thanks! :D

I just got my very first issue today in the mail! I was initiated in March of this year so it takes a little while! I know that last year, a few girls' paperwork got lost and they hadn't become "official" Kappas yet and they noticed because they hadn't recieved an issue... so if it takes a while, you may want to make sure your paperwork is a-okay!!

I just talked to our chapter president who is at convention right now and we are sooo excited about the new philanthropy -- "Reading is Fundamental"!! I am philanthropy round chair for recruitment and we had an idea it may be reading literacy and everything we planned works fabulously!!

so should I go on the kappa website and email someone to make sure all my paperwork went through and everything or just wait it out a little bit more to see if it comes?

I just really need the "rush informations forms" soon :)

Maybe check with your chapter's registrar to see that everything is ok... but I would wait a week to see if your Key comes in the mail!

Most likely, it is being sent to your parent's house while you are an active unless you change your address with HQ.

Ya, thats what I figured, but I'm home now (at my parent's address) and I STILL haven't gotten and most girls in my house have...I'm gonna call soon!

Sometimes it just takes a while! There are a few ladies in my alumnae group who have gotten their Key a week before I have. The mail is weird sometimes. :)

FYI, if you do call, I would wait until the end of next week. The staff at HQ is just getting back from Convention and I'm sure they're going to be busy with getting settled and taking care of things that went on while they were away. I'm glad you're so excited to get your copy, though!

Ya, I figured I'd wait a little longer and thanks for the heads up on them just getting back from the convention. I'm just so anxious because my mom got hers (The Arrow for Pi Phi's) 2 or 3 weeks ago...I just need to be patient :D

so here's the current update:

I called Kappa headquarters and they said since my chapter didn't get my address to them until June, I won't receive The Key until September! :eek: I don't know what happened on my chapter's end because other girls in my pledge class have received it...grrr. Anyways what should I do because I want my password for the "members-only" section of the Kappa website and I want to see the new merchandise (www.buykappa.com said posted that the new stuff was in the magazine...). I was also wondering what I'm suppose to do for writing recs for schools such as Univ. of Iowa, who rush in August?...Please help, I've been looking forward ALL summer to getting The Key and now I won't even be home to get it in September! ahhhh :confused:

They weren't able to give you your member number when you called? That would be my suggestion on being able to access the members only side. Otherwise you can "borrow" a sister's id and password to at least download a rec form from the site (or have someone with access download one and then send it to you).

And then have your parents forward your Key to you at school when it comes to them in September! :)

If you aren't able to get a rec form in time, for schools that have Recruitment right away you can just write a letter about the girl you're recommending. That way they can at least have a name to look out for. If you want, PM me and I can help you out.

ILLINIgirl, you don't need a username and password to shop at The Key Source (www.buykappa.com)...you can just go to the site and start shopping!

Hope that is *some* consolation.

Also, as ISUKappa pointed out, all you need to do is call HQ back (1-866-KKG-1870), ask for Membership Services, and tell them you need to know your member number in order to access the sisters-only side of the website. (They will ask you some questions, of course, to verify your membership).

Then you should be all set!

phew! got the member number and username, etc for the website. I didn't even think of calling to get that because I didn't know if they would be willing to give it to me over the phone. Now I'll just have to wait *patiently* (so difficult for me :D ) for my magazine to come in September...
