Fave Fraternities?

Hey Phis!

I thought it would be fun if we got a thread going about our favorite fraternities? Which guys were the "IT Boys" when you were in school?

For us it was the Fijis and Betas (too cute!). :p

Didnt I have a post here. If I offended anyone I'm sorry.

You post was lost

Miami1839: I think your post was lost when GC went down. I remember your post, and I am sure it didn't offend any of us (in fact, our forum has no moderator, so I don't think any of us could have erased it). :)

BTW, I think the Betas rule! ;)

Post Again...

We lost quite a few posts...almost all of this thread was lost when the GC server failed. :(

I am sure your post wasn't intentionally deleted Miami1839. It was a sweet note, if I recall correctly. We A-Phis appreciate any and all positive posts, which yours was. ;)

I posted before, but it, like the others, was lost.

I love all the fraternities! They've all got their cuties and sweeties. ;)

I second ForgetMeNot. All the fraternities are great. The ones at Tech are totally cool. ;)

Wish they all could be fraternity guys!

My Dad was a Delta Tau Delta, so I am somewhat partial to them. I also like Fiji and Sigma Nu (so cute). The Betas and LXAs are sweethearts. All the fraternities are great, but those are my personal faves. ;)

Anyone else?

Thanks Jen,

Thats what I figured it was.

Basically what I said was that I had some great friends in Alpha Phi at George Mason and we had great times at Myrtle Beach during Mason's Beach week. I remember my first serenade was with an Alpha Phi Sister and it was awesome. If I remember correctly I sang("I took my girl out walking") to her in our old greek hangout. Its no longer there now but It was called "The Rat". Weird huh. Yeah, so I went up to her and sang to her with all of her sisters there. Anyways, Alpha Phi was definitely one of my favs.

Fraternally,

Kevin

Thanks !

Thanks Kevin for posting again!! It's always fun to hear from fraternity boys (hope the term doesn't offend). ;)

We don't do serenading at Texas Tech, can you (or anyone else) tell me more about it? It sounds cool.

Thanks again.

Greek Love,
Jen

Your welcome Jen :)

I'm not offended in the least :) Its only when non greeks refer to me as a "frat" boy.

You dont do serenading down there? Man. :)

Well, we serenade for different types of occasions.

Both Informal and Formal. Most of the time I serenaded when I was a pledge. It was a lot of fun. Usually a brother would pick out a girl or his girlfriend and I would sing to her. Usually Beta Sweetheart or I took my girl out walking. We'd also get down on one knee when we serenaded.

There were certin occasions where we had our pledge class organize a serenade. We would invite a sorority to a particular place on campus, we'd bring a rose, and we'd all serenade them :) Lots of fun.

Formals were another time where we would line all of our dates up and the whole chapter would get down on one knee and serenade. We would do a few songs with and without the pledge class.

Lavaliering was another occasion. One of our brothers had us all get together and go over to his girlfriends dorm. We lined up outside, got down on one knee and we serenaded her, and then our brother dropped the lavalier.

I talked to one Kappa Alpha Theta(Virginia Tech Alum) I used to work with at a restaurant near school. She told me that they had a special serenade for the Betas. It sort of went along with the mulberry bush lullaby song.

I hope this helped.

Greek Love,

Kevin :)

How sweet!!!

Wow Kevin,

That is SO neat! I wish we did that down in Texas. I know we have Alpha Phi songs for serenading, but I've never known anyone who has done it, used the songs, or, really, even know how the songs go. :(

That is such a sweet tradition. Thanks, Kevin, for sharing! I appreciate it. And I am now going to talk to some of our alums to see if they ever did it when they were in school.

:)

Jen

Fave fraternities?

Hey Kevin,

Thanks for your reply...but actually we don't do serenades anymore..they think it has a connection with hazing. I wish we still did it. Actually, about a year ago, Pi Kapp's from University of Maryland came down and found out where our pledge sleep over was and serenaded our new members...I wish we still did serenades though:D

Hey Jen,

Your Welcome. Wow. Thats pretty lame they think that. I think that was one of the best things I took part in as an active. O well. :) Thats awesome about Pi Kapp. I remember when we used to have a house down the street from your bird house. It was behind the field house in that neighborhood. Lots of great times :)

Yeah we had the Bird for a while until we lost it and then we had a house I lived in on Roberts Road last year....but since then no one wants to move into a house. I think next year though there going to put all the Greeks into Commonwealth or Dominion each fraternity and sorority with their own section of the buildings
