Cheney utters "F-word"

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has blurted out the "F word" at Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont during a heated exchange on the Senate floor, according to congressional aides.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in a terse discussion between the two that touched on politics, religion and money, with Cheney finally telling Leahy to "f--- off" or "go f--- yourself," the aides said on Thursday.

"I think he was just having a bad day," Leahy was quoted as saying on CNN, which first reported the incident. "I was kind of shocked to hear that kind of language on the floor."

"That doesn't sound like language the vice president would use but there was a frank exchange of views," said Cheney spokesman Kevin Kellems.

According to congressional aides, Leahy said hello to Cheney following the taking of the Senate group photo on the floor of the chamber.

Cheney, who is president of the Senate, then ripped into Leahy for the Democratic senator's criticism this week of alleged war profiteering in Iraq by Halliburton, the oil services company that Cheney once ran.

Leahy and other Democrats have called for congressional hearings into whether the vice president helped the firm win lucrative contracts in Iraq after the U.S.-led war that toppled Saddam Hussein.

I wonder if this will end up a big deal? I don't think it is. I bet every politician says something like that about another at one point justmost people don't here it.

I applaud Cheney. But it's a good thing he didn't say it on C-Span. The FCC would have to go after him. That would have been poetic justice.

No they wouldn't. The FCC is an organization that answers to nobody but the President really. The FCC didn't go after several people including Oprah and won't go after Cheney.

Why is it that every time a republican does something a little naughty *cough Jack Ryan cough* he ends up trying to take the focus on himself by talking crap about a democrat?

I suppose it's just the nature of politics, huh?

Who got caught? What did Ryan have to do with this??

As for Ryan:
1) They were accusations.
2) I'm sure you as a public defender understand that accusations are not fact.
3) Even if they were real, so what? Well I guess it's one of those bizarre things that you really wish you hadn't heard and makes you really look at someone different. But anyway it's something personal that he did or does and they brought it out for what??

Who is Dawn, and what does she have to do with this?

Before you had a dual of two gentlemen between a Republican and a Democrat, you'd first have to find a gentleman in the Republican party. I wish you luck in your quest but I'm not holding my breath.

This post reminded me of how I almost said the f-word in front of my grandma last week.

Now that was embarrassing.

Yeah OK. I submit Evidence A to the jury on why Democrats are retarded.
