With the hand over of power one week away....

Do you think that Iraq is ready to handle this task....or is it just that Bush is thinking about November and wants to sneak out the backdoor leaving the Iraqis to deal w/ the Bush created problem by themseves.

The Latter

Part of me believes that the hand over is a big joke for the main reason, we don't really know why we are there in the first place. But the country, seems to me, will be cleaning up the work of Mr. Bush for years to come.

God Bless our soldiers and I hope you all come home safely!!!

Prepare to see another big U.S mistake.

The U.S has plans to use some of Saddam's (remember he was the bad guy or so we were told) military men to help w/security in the new Iraq. What's to stop these guys from over throwing the NEW Iraqi government once our troops pull out.... and reinstate the baath party. (the party of Saddam)

It happened a little early...According to the news, there was a small discreet ceremony to hand over power to the interim government. To me, this is all smoke and mirrors...nothing will actually change in Iraq while US and Coalition  forces are on the ground and there are many foreign 'consultants' to the oil industry.

Yea. It is my understanding that they handed over power this morning at the UN. I think it is all crap because we are still going to be there policing the streets and losing soldiers. What exactly is supposed change when we have HAND PICKED their leader? This just reeks:( .

The fact that the Bush admin. handed over power two days before the actual date proves that Bush and his crew are planning to leave Iraq high and dry. I believe years from now we will once again see Saddam"s influence on Iraq.

Why didn't Bush and Blair attend this bogus ceremony?

I think they did attend the ceremony. I can vaugely remember them saying something about it on the news. I give the guy they have in power now about a month before they kill him. I know that sounds grim but they are doing worse to civilians to prove a point.

A month? DIVA 1171 I believe your being too generous.

I hafta agree. I really got a bad feeling about this. Somehow, Saddam might not be the president, but he'll be like the mafia - still running things from behind iron bars.

AXEAM 06-30-2004 08:20 PM

I don't even think he'll still be behind bars....it seems our international strategy is to always fumble the ball.

Saddam was in court today, and dispite what was being said about him he held his own. Many expected to see a much more subdued Saddam however he took charge of the courtroom @ one point even challenging the judge's authority.

The insurgents in Iraq have now come up w/ a new method of persuading employers of nations doing business in Iraq to leave.
The insurgents now capture their employees and threatening to behead them so far it's working.
