Richard D. Nashan was the founder and first president of the College of Santa Fe chapter of the Tau-Kappa Epsilon fraternity. "He got 65 pledges that first year, and in 1968 they were installed as a full chapter," said his sister Sharon Nashan Cunningham. Mr. Nashan, with his brother James, was co-owner of Chicago Export Packing Co. Mr. Nashan, 58, died of congestive heart failure Monday, June 14, in his McHenry home. He was born in Chicago and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Niles. Mr. Nashan graduated from the College of Santa Fe and received a master's degree in history in 1971 from New Mexico Highlands University. Mr. Nashan returned to Chicago and worked in sales before starting at Chicago Export Packing, his father's company, in 1975. He gained ownership in the late 1980s. Mr. Nashan also is survived by another brother, Charles Jr., and another sister, Victoria Rinella. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 Bull Valley Rd., McHenry.

Does anyone know anything about the Greek system at Santa Fe? How big was it? When did it start? When did it end? Was it recognized by the college? Thanks.
