I knew I was a Theta woman when...

Theta Women,

I'd like to hear stories from you all about an instance/situation that made you feel like you truly belonged to a Sisterhood.

Here's mine:

On a trip down to Florida for a relaxation weekend with my chapter, I had the pleasure of driving myself and one other Lady. We left Atlanta really late (10-11 PM because we both had obligations before that) and would arrive a full day after everyone else had.

On the trip down, I just laid it out! My poor Soror! I was having man trouble (he's my hex-boyfriend now, luckily) and life trouble and she really listened to me. In fact, she related to some of my stories with stories of her own. I've never had a sister. My one biological sibling is my brother who went away for the last two years of his high school studies, so I missed that time in his life. I really didn't know how to deal with female relationships very well. I've only ever had a few female friends. Now I have tons of Sorors! It's really incredible!!

I knew I was a Theta Woman When....

I cried in front of my LS for the first time. I don't cry in front of people, and we'd been in the sorority for about a year and a half, and it was still something that I've never done before. I felt like I was falling, and falling fast, and I wasn't going to have anyone to catch me. And I didn't know what to do, so I went to my LS. They looked at each other first like, "ok who are you and what have you done with our LS" But then they hugged me, and talked to me. I used to think crying was a sign of weakness, but now i see it as a strength. Not many people can let people in like that. And when i was done crying, I looked up, and saw 2 people who were there to catch me. =)

Aww i think I'm gonna cry again. LOL

Theta Woman

Out of the many instances of feeling like a TRUE Theta woman, this one in particular stands out for me. I'm currently the chapter advisor for the MOST Passionate Pi Chapter at UVA. It was the summer after my graduation and the new girls organized a carnival for children in the local Charlottesville community. They worked hard and got donations to provide school supplies for the children as prizes after they played a variety of games they created.

It was a typical summer day..hot warm and sunny, the kids were out running around we were running around it was great. I remember interacting with a couple of children playing and joking with them literally out in field with them...watching them smile and laugh....then they all bombarded me with hugs, smiles and many thanks for a great time...shortly after that it began to rain we all scattered to get the kids under shelter...I stood in the mist of the rain proud to be a Theta woman...because of that short moment I had with the kids impacted me....And even in the mist of the RAIN we all still represented made sure everyone else was safe before ourselves....I love it!!! I know I'm dramatic...but that's how it was you feel me.

ONE Love,
Always and 4ever
