After the hazing close down

I was thinking.........I heard for some that if the chapter is closed to hazing.....they will become alumni.......so does the alumis accept/suppor this.........i mean now that they know which chapter did hazing, does the alumni treat that chapter alumnis different?? If it was me and I found out a certain chapter did hazing, I would be like see you, and wont talk to them again.

Probally most alumni were hazed and if they heard that ur chapter was closed down due to hazing they would probally say that a dumb reason to close a chapter (if what u did wasnt serious like shooting a kids sack with a bebee gun)(im a horrible speller) and still look you the same. Besides almost all chapters at my university and the universities that my buddies go to haze in one form or another.

It depends on the chapter.

Often, members that are guilty of hazing are simply expelled.

From my experience, if you're an active member of a chapter caught hazing, and it's bad enough to close the chapter, you probably aren't getting alumni status, but simply being given the boot. Alumni members who were already alumni don't lose their status because a chapter closes though.

I agree. Often (not always) a chapter that is closed because of poor numbers, financial instability or other things like that grant alumni status to members.

Sometimes, if hazing isn't a chapter-wide problem, those who weren't involved are given alumni status.

And, sometimes the entire membership become alums. It depends on the national organization and the depth of the problem.

In my experience these members have been labeled as "Alumni in Bad Standing". They're not welcome to any alumni activities, are banned from the chapter house and don't receive any communications (newsletters, flyers, etc.) from the chapter/alums or HQ.

LXA usually does this as well. I also think a membership review is done as a matter of investigating, and that is where it is determined whether alumni or expelled status is to be given, though I believe it is rare for expelled status in LXA, but it does happen occassionally, and can be appealed at a later date as well.
