Connecticut Gov. Rowland to Resign
HARTFORD, Conn. - Connecticut Gov. John G. Rowland, the subject of investigations into alleged corruption and facing possible impeachment, will announce his resignation Monday night, an administration source told The Associated Press.
The governor was planning to announce his resignation on a live television address to the state at 6 p.m., the source said Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...cut_governor_3 Isn't the Lt Gov there democrat? If he/she is that will be a big change for Conn at least til they have a special election or what ever Conn does when someone resigns. |
The Lt. Governor of Connecticut is Jodi Rell (at least if I remember correctly; been a couple years since I've been a resident). She is a Republican.
Rowland was very popular as of a couple years ago, before all the accusations came out. The Democratic party in CT couldnt' round up anyone that could even give him a fight. A series of foolish moves on his part added up. It really pisses me off - I was a big fan of Rowland before all this started. |
The more I think about it, the more it bothers me what this guy did to himself and his reputation. He was the youngest Gov. in the country when elected in 1995, already a three-term Congressman. He did a lot to shape up Hartford, New London and other questionable areas of CT.
Then he does this and throws it all away; for someone who was a supporter of him, it's a shame. *end rant* |
