Would You Wear Letters To Church?

??

No. Lettered t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. are too casual to wear to religious services, IMO. (Not to mention, I'm Jewish so I don't go to church. ;) )

Agreed.

While I rarely attend church (or any religious service for that matter), lettered clothing is too casual for church. Although I would wear my lavalier.

I've never attended church service w/ my letters, but I have attended church activities in my letters.

No, but I would wear my pin.

jubilance1922 06-21-2004 12:41 PM

I think that a pin is appropriate at church.

Absolutely.

Well.. if I were active.

I'd wear an old fraternity t-shirt to a social event though. Maybe an alum recognition pin if I had one.

No letters to church, that's a very formal setting. I would wear my badge though. I'm part of an org. run through Campus Crusade (The Dive), and I do wear letters to those activities. It shows that Greeks believe in God too and that it's okay to be Christian and greek :)

I wear my badge to church. That's about the only place I go where I dress up. Of course, my badge is new and I like to wear it. I wear my lavalier almost every day to work, where dress is much more casual. I would probably wear a letter shirt to a casual church activity.

Sundays:

Lettered polo or pin

Wednesday and any other informal event:

Letters all the way - is there any better to place to recruit than church?

KSigkid 06-21-2004 12:54 PM

I generally wear nothing more casual than a polo and kakhis to church, so...if I had a polo with letters it would be a possibility, or a badge/ring.

However as a general rule I don't wear t-shirts to church as it is.

The priest at my college was very critical of fraternities and sororities. People did not wear letters to Mass. If they did, they covered them. He was a very nice priest, but he thought that we were too exclusive and exclusionary. Regardless, I don't think that sweatshirts and t-shirts are appropriate attire for church.

No. I wear my COLORS, but never letters.

*Well...there was this one time*
I had to drop something off to my mom one Saturday. So, I had on jeans and a tee.

Ditto. Church is a formal time. I would wear a suit in one of my colors.

Assuming that by "to church" you mean to a worship service....

I would only wear letters to church in the form of a recognition pin on a coat lapel. I also would readily wear a red-black-gold tie.

Even when I dress down a little for church (polo shirt and chinos), I probably would not wear a shirt with any kind of organization logo on it.

Non-worship events at church would be a whole different matter. I have worn letters to quite a few church meetings/functions.
