Bill Clinton: The Book, The 60 Minutes Interview, and Oprah

I truly believe he was the best President in my life time. I was young when Regan was in office. Bush #1, I was in elementary school. Clinton was the first person I could vote for the office of president.

Yes, he had his troubles, demons etc., but I miss hearing him speak to the nation. Even time I hear Bush #2 give a public speech my skin begins to crawl.

I think I'm going to buy his book. Sounds interesting.

He'll be on Oprah Monday or Tuesday.

I saw the interview and God help me -- I couldn't stop thinking of Darrell Hammond from Saturday Night Live. :D

The interview itself wasn't that revealing. It was merely an attempt to drum up interest in the book (which to me seems like a moot point -- it's already #1 at most online booksellers). I'm going to read the book to see if there's anything truly earthshattering in it, but as it stands, I didn't learn anything in the interview that changed my already deeply conflicted views about this man.

I absolutely adore Bill Clinton.

Carry on ... :o

I really enjoyed the interview, and feel like most of you that it was done because of the book. I too think that I am going to read this book. No I didn't hear anything that I didn't already know, but it was a trip to actually hear him say that he lied, and also how he was treated by his family because of the lies. HE was very candid.

I, too, enjoyed the interview. I liked (and like) Bill Clinton and I think he was an extraordinary president. I'm going to buy the book.

Former President Bill Clinton has checked into a New York hospital and will undergo heart bypass surgery, U.S. networks reported on Friday.

ETA: QUADRUPLE  He was just here earlier this week. He probably was having pains then... let's hope and pray for a speedy recovery.

What she said!
I bought his book at Costco last week and yes he was one of my favorite presidents in my lifetime (G-d knows I can't stand the current one in office)

He had to be in a lot of pain. I love me some Bill. Everytime I see him on television I wish he could run again, or if Hillary would just make that big announcement and say that she is interested in running for the white house. I prayed that he comes through alright. I've noticed since this hit the news that Bush has been put on the backburner (well in my area he has).

FYI: Bill Clinton called and talked to Larry King on his show. He will probably have surgery on Monday or Tuesday. He said he was somewhat afraid, but if he doesn't have the surgery he will almost certainly have a heart attack. He sounded in good spirits and even joked that "The Republicans aren't the only people who want four more years here."

Both Presidential candidates extend best wishes to the former President:

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: And we're out here, we just received news that President Clinton has been hospitalized in New York. He is in our thoughts and prayers. We send him our best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery.

SEN. JOHN KERRY (D-MA), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: Every single one of us, every single one of us wants to extend to him our best wishes, our prayers and our thoughts. And I want you all to let a cheer out and clap that he can hear all the way to New York, all the way to New York!
