Best E-Mail Providers?

My boyfriend and I want to have a joint e-mail account so that we can use it for our "wedding" stuff. We were going to use Yahoo but since the "new" Yahoo wants you to verify your age w/your credit card information, we don't feel comfortable with that and are trying to find a good and free e-mail service. Any suggestions?

Oh, no Hotmail either, it takes to long to load up on both of our computers :p

Netzero maybe? You can both check it from the web.

I just set up an extra yahoo account & it didn't require a credit card...you just have to read the small print where it says "continue w/out giving your credit card information" or something like that...

I've also got a http://www.gmail.com account & if you know someone w/ invites I'd suggest using it! Or you could use http://www.mail.com/ its also free!

I use yahoo and if you sign up under the free account you now get 10mb of storage and it did not ask me for a credit card either..

You know, there are other fee schedules available from them. You can get as few as 2 hours a month, I think. It might be worth calling about. If you throw a fit and threaten to leave, they come out of the woodwork with other price packages just to keep you as a customer... I've even gotten a free month from them just for not cancelling. From what I understand, the cancellation dept. has "incentives" they can use to make "saves."

It's kind of like Dell. If you call in with a customer service problem, the rep. can give you up to $150 worth of products from Dell. If you order a computer from them, call in the 1st 30 days threatening to send it back and the special dept. (that's set up just to try and keep you from doing a return) is authorized to give you more than that. -- Useless info from a former Dell employee (myself)

I heard google is starting a new one that is supposed to be pretty sweet. I haven't really checked it out yet though.

It's quite simply the best I've ever seen. Almost unbelievable that it's free. I get 1000MB of storage/message archival. The only ads are "relevant text" ads. When you read a message, they appear off to the right of the message. For example, I had a message with the word "fraternity" in it. Off to the side I had ads from "RushATO" and other fraternity-related advertising.

I use Fastmail (www.fastmail.com) and I have been very pleased with it. There is no spamming like with hotmail and yahoo accounts and come to think of it I have not even noticed any advertisements. I'm sure there are some somewhere since it's free, but it's nothing noticeable.

I've had yahoo mail for a while and am really a big fan of it.

However, haven't been using it much lately, spend more time checking my two work email accounts.

Definitely use gmail, nothing compares. I don't even notice the ads. It's fast, easy to get used to, and everyone has invites now it seems.

Except that everyone so far is failing to mention that in order to get a Gmail account, you have to be invited by someone else or have Google's powers that be think you're special. Right now, you can sign up to be notified when Gmail goes public, but it's not open to the internet masses right now. It is a terrific program and I'm not even getting ads on all my messages.

More at http://www.gmail.com and if you want a code, try Gmail Swap

Ive got SBC DSL so I have a free e-mail account with them. I still use my hotmail cause everyone has that one and I hate to constantly change e-mails on everyone. Hotmail sucks though with all the dang junk.....

I hear Yahoo is good. I have a free account there too so I can me a member of some yahoo groups.

Well, in another thread I said that I'd invite anyone who wanted to be invited. Others have said the same thing. Google is letting users give out tons of invites right now, so it's not hard to get one.
