Slow Motion

"She's working that back, slow motion . . . "

Please tell me who sings this song.

I'm driving my niece to day care this morning and we are both listening to the radio like what did he just say.

skeeliteful 06-17-2004 08:55 AM

Yeah I like the song too in spite of

i'm surprised as hell - - - - the lyrics were about a guy that would not sleep with the girl when her period was on, oral sex and on and on and on - - - i was embarassed just listening to it and had no idea what to say to my niece. radio and tv are getting out of hand.

i hate to seem like an old head (ha ha ha) but this song should be banned. i'm surprised that educated women like the folk on GC like this music - - - to me, if you like this then you may as well support being called a bitch or nigger.

I don't see the paralell.

Why would they support a song calling them that when "Slow Motion" is about sex?

I think alot of it is tied to the beat. At least for me it is. I love Splash Waterfalls (edited version, of course). But, moreso because the beat is just nice!

I agree.

Music isn't just lyrics.

Professor 06-18-2004 01:07 PM

Perhaps the song does have a nice beat - that is not the issue for me - i'm concerned about the lyrics.

i'm tending to think that the 20-30 year old folk don't have problems with explicit lyrics. on the other hand, i find much of rap and especially the lyrics to slow motion to be in poor taste. of course, i'm older than most folk on GC and have little tolerance for a number of things.

Well, I'm in my late 20's (when did that happen!?!), and I have a mixed feelings about rap. I enjoy it, but I can usually only take the radio edits (sometimes, that's a bit much for me). In fact, I only own a few rap CD's (Roots, Common, 2Pac, Outkast, and Kanye West; that's about it).

However, if I'm in a club setting, it's different. It's party time. I'm just trying to catch the beat. But, as an adult, it's my perogative. Time and place...time and place.

AKA2D '91 06-18-2004 01:29 PM

I'm not a fan of the song either, but to each his or her own....

Professor,

Just wait until the end of July when the refreshing sounds of Stevie Wonder hits the radio...or will it?

allsmiles_22 06-18-2004 03:43 PM

It's not some new phenomenon.

Well considering a lot of 20-30 year olds grew up on Marvin Gaye, Rick James, Prince, and other artists from the 70's who had sex laced lyrics, it's not that far fetched. There are plenty of r&b songs that talk about sex. Just because they call it "making love" doesn't mean the subject has changed or the lyrics are more suitable.
