New Airline with LOW FARES

It launched today and flies from a number of cities on the East Coast. Check it out especially if you have summer travel plans on the horizon.

I will be glad when folks start having low fare airlines out of CHARLOTTE!!!

Girl, I was on their website the other day. I was pricing a flight out of Columbia to Baltimore. They don't fly into BWI (where I usually arrive), but they go into Dulles. I think the roundtrip price was like $140. How about melikes? :p

Let Your VOICE be heard

I went to the website and found a link to send them an e-mail about adding more destination cities. So I let my voice be heard:

http://www.flyi.com/com-contact.htm

Greetings,

I was ecstatic to learn of your airline yesterday and passed it along to all of my friends and family. I was however dismayed not to see Charlotte, NC as a destination city. I hope that you consider adding Charlotte in the near future. It is a great airport and for those who live here, we would love to fly at a great rate without having to drive to Raleigh or Greensboro to do so.

Best regards,

I'll be glad when they hit up the West Coast. But it says that they will be expanding more now thru 2005, and it did say they would hit the west. So I can't wait.

They replied

Thank you for contacting us.

Independence Air has announced its summer 2004 schedule. Beginning this fall, we will introduce the newer and larger Airbus (A319) aircraft to our fleet. These aircraft, along with our current fleet of iJets, will be used to service new cities not currently on our route map. We are always looking for new ideas on where we should operate.

Your suggestion has been forwarded to the Route Planning department at Independence Air for evaluation and consideration. Thank you for your input.

Best regards,
Customer Services

Has anyone actually flown them yet? Are the planes held together with duct tape?

James 08-03-2004 08:51 PM

Do they pass around a hat in the beginning of the flight for gas money?

If they are anything like Airtran, the planes are in great shape.

I was pricing flights for P-Diddy's trip here the end of the month...actually Delta and Continental were both cheaper than Independence. I was disappointed, I expected them to come with a biggggg discount.

I flew them this past weekend!!! GREAT PLANES!! Nice new planes. Small though, only 13 rows but the one flight attendant I had Saturday morning from Charlotte to the Dulles HUB in DC was so attentive to my needs.

I fell asleep but she left my orange juice there for me.
They give you warm moist towelletes and mints too.

Monday, leaving Dulles we were delayed on our runway for an hour TO NO FAULT OF INDEPENDENCE AIR but Charlotte Douglas Airport had shut down a runway so they had to delay flight arrivals but they served some GREAT SNACKS.

Oh and they serve Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Arizona Green Tea and water.

And when you check your luggage, you have the chance to win a free one way flight but if not you get 20% offf your next flight.

Overall, I was very satisfied except for the one flight attendant who overlooked me and did not get me anything. GRRRRRRRRRR
