Vet question

Well, I think the cat is done for. This morning, from what I'm told he was just walking around the house constantly, circling the furniture. I found him with his head stuck under an ottoman, pretty limp -- can't stand.

He did this the other day and recovered, but this time it's more serious I think.

When he tries to stand, his front legs cross -- I figure it's a stroke. He's 15, it's been a long, happy life. Any vets have input other than the obvious?

I'm definitely not a vet, but it sounds like your poor kitty is old and may have some sort of neurological damage. You really should take him to a vet asap. I'm so sorry, I know losing a pet is hard :( ...

Definitely take him to a vet, and be prepared to be told that it's time to put him down. 15 years is a good life... maybe it's just his time to go. Sorry to hear about it though :(

hug him and love him and be ready to let him go. i lost a 13 year old a couple of years ago. but it had to happen. her little body had just run out of steam.

My first cat did the same thing about 3.5 years back. She did ok when we took her to the vet because they hydrated her and stuff. She was good for a couple of months and then it happened again, and the 2nd time she didn't last. I was sad for days. She lived a good life, 18 years. I'm so sorry for you, it's tough to see it happen to your pets.:(

Well, it could be dehydration as well. He'd been drinking constantly for the past few days.

Took him to the vet this morning to put him down. It's probably better that way. I've always wished that pets could just expire on their own, like in their sleep. The condition that he was in though, I thought I'd feel guilty about it, but I don't.

I know it's hard, but I'm glad you made that decision. I can't stand when people force their pets to suffer just because they can't bear the thought of letting go. I worked part-time in an animal hospital when I was in high school, so I've seen it happen many times.

These threads make me sad. :(

I'm so sorry about your cat, but I agree w/ SSS1365. You had the courage to make a hard decision that was in the best interest of your pet. I hope you can cheer up a bit.

I am awfully sorry to hear about your cat. I know that it was a tough decision to make, but I know you didn't want your pet to suffer.:(
Thinking of you today.

Rudey-don't forget it is a convertible 3 series-very important :)

KT,

could have been a seizure, brain tumor, FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis, dry form), CVA (cerebral vascular accident-fancy word for stroke I guess you could say), endocrine disease (diabetes)etc...
Sorry you had to euthanize him but it is better than the alternative of letting him continue on. So sorry for your loss.
