racism and VonDutch
I have read a few forums stating the original VonDutch was a nazi.
He hated blacks,Mexicans and Jews. Yet people from all races are wearing his trucker hats and apparel as though it was the coolest thing ever. I think this society has gone nuts. Is it considered cool for the very same people he hated to wear his name on their apparel??. The irony is they pay big money to wear this racist name. http://www.musicscene.org/portalpak/...sp?frid=184267 Quote from VonDutch: "I am not willing to go through it anymore, only to emerge in a place full of niggers,Mexicans and Jews out of control". Also the May 9th Los Angeles magazine has an article on the racist nazi VonDutch. |
I know you're new.. but this really has nothing to do with the forum you posted it in.

Ditto what ktsnake said. This should be moved to CC or N&P.
I haven't heard any claims of racism from Mr. VonDutch, but putting all assumptions and opinions aside... I think anyone who wears VonDutch should be shot on the spot. For the love of all things holy, this world would be a better place without that crap clothing. |
Too old to keep up with trends..
who's VonDutch?

I wouldn't be surprised. And, as usual, I agree with Sandy. Von Dutch wearers should be taken out of their misery. |
Von Dutch stuff is just ugly and tacky. I really don't care if the owner/originator is a Nazi, a Southern Baptist, or Donald freaking Duck. The grossness of the clothing speaks for itself!
|
Not to mention that is also extremely expensive. We sell the trucker hats at hot topic and they are more expensive than the west coast choppers stuff!
|
I am new here.I apologize for putting this in the wrong section. I just thought it was ironic that the hottest name on apparel and hats these days belongs to a known alchoholic racist. People are thinking this VonDutch is cool. Meanwhile he was nothing but a nazi lover.

So if he made ugly clothes and people are willing to spend lots of money to wear them.. I don't see the big deal? There are major US Corporations that once had a hand in the slave trade as well. |
i saw him on the t.v. show celebrity justice or E!. he was saying how he was going through some part of a city, saw knock offs of his von dutch hats, got out of his car, grabbed all of those hats, and yelled at the lady "where did you get these?! your not supposed to do this!" and left. he then said that he keeps them in his office as a momento or something. i don't know what's the big deal about his clothes... although, i do like the von dutch "uggs" cause of the colors and they're cheaper (like$99) than regular uggs.

"There are major U.S. corporations who once had a hand in slave trade themselves".
Agreed. But people are not wearing these companies names all over their apparel and acting as though it is cool to be associated with the racist name. The real Von Dutch died in 1992. There are plenty of kids wearing Von Dutch now who think Von Dutch was cool. Hopefully they do not think the fact he admired the nazis and hated minorities is cool. Unfortunately, young people are very impressionable. I do not like the fact a man who was so blatently a nazi and a racist is being marketed to young kids as someone to admire . |
Okay, so Mr. Von Dutch, whose real name was Kenneth Howard, was a racist. BFD.
He had nothing to do with the clothes we are familiar with today. He was an artist that people actually admired despite his neo-Nazi outlook on the world. In fact, that's one of the reasons why his pieces became popular. He died in 1992. His daughters took the "Von Dutch" name and started marketing it on clothes. If Mr. Howard were alive today, he'd probably shoot half the people wearing his name. Is this going to stop people from buying this crap? I doubt it. |

Go to any t-shirt shop.. go to Hot Topix.. If you're looking to be offended, look no further than their t-shirt prints :D It's not something worth crusading over. If there's a hell, the creator of that clothing line is in it. Since he's either dead or suffering eternal damnation, I find it difficult to hold a grudge :D |
