Rushing in the Fall...
Hey everyone-
I will be a Soph. this coming fall, and I am going through rush for the first time. I don't know too many Lambda Chi's at LSU, but the few that I know are really good guys. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you know about LSU's chapter and what not. I'm also a little nervous about rush, I hear it's fun...but intense. Anyway, if you guys had and feedback, that'd be great. Thanks alot. WNG |
Hey, how is it going lsutigah, my name is Ryan Daley I am a Lambda Chi Alpha at Univ. of Tennessee Knoxville. LSU has a great Lambda Chi chapter, they win national awards on a regular basis and they have one of our best chapters in the country.
I personally met some of the brothers my freshmen year in Atlanta when we lost to you guys in the SEC championship game, they were cool guys. I know a few Chi Omegas and KD's at LSU that rave about Lambda Chi and from what I have heard Lambda Chi is by far the best fraternity there. As for rushing I would go to their website and see if they have rush recommendation forms. I know last year one of their associates moms was online trying to find info about Lambda Chi at LSU and her son eventually associated and was initiated. Keep checking up on this forum because I believe some older alumnis from different chapters might be able to help you out as far as getting connected to the guys in the chapter at LSU. Everybody is nervous when it comes to rush do not put too much pressure on yourself when you are rushing, that will only make it harder. Believe me, guys in the fraternity are worried have as much pressure as you, this is your chance to be wined and dined, it is a two way street. If you really want to go Lamdba Chi get in touch with the guys that you know there before hand and make sure they put in good words for you when they give invite backs and bids. Rush is competitive at LSU doing this will give you a major advantage. Getting on this forum is also a great idea because you are getting a head start. Also learn how to manage your time when you are an associate, not being a brother does not mean that you are not going to have any free time, you will have plenty of time to do what you want and a lot of time to study. Being in a fraternity should be an important part of your life that you should always find time for. Overall, you are really lucky the chapter at LSU is very good and you definitely should go Lamdba Chi Alpha at LSU, it will be the best four years of your life. If you need anymore information e-mail me at [email]rdaley@utk.edu. |
I sent you a PM. I have a contact there and can put you in touch with the guys. They are a great group. LSU is one of our oldest chapters.

Heed lifesaver!:)
A member of G C has a son at LSU who Associated with LXA. He was a 5 legacy young man, all different Greek Organizations and no LXA's. She felt from seeing how LXA's on G C handled them selves that LXA would be a good fit for him. Some of his very best friends were KS but he joined LXA from what he saw of the Brothers there. She said that he made the right choice! In rushing, keep an open mind, check out the members, what do they do on campus, GPA, Charity Events, what is eaches respect threashold on campus, etc. There are many things to consider when looking at any Greek Organization. Is there an after life upon graduation, contacts in the working world, how many men from a Fraternity do you know, and how many are there that you may not know. LXA Upsilon Chapter (notice single Chapter designation) has been there for many, many years and has always been highly regarded on LSU campus. Check web sites of Greeks On Campus and Chapters around you. Check: www.lambdachi.org [/urhttp://www.chops.org/lcaintl/zetas.phpl] www.greekpages.com This is a Site done by Brother Jon Sagara that is awesome. Good luck in your search! |
Thanks for all of your help so far! To be honest with you, I didn't think I was going to get any responses...but ya'll have been more than helpful.
About the Legacy thing, My Grandfather was a KA and my Father was a SigEp. It's not that I don't like those fraternities at LSU, but I just can't picture myself there. I have several friends with both of them, and have gone to rush parties for both of them...but I'm just not positive that they are for me The Lambda Chi's at LSU seem to be well rounded gentlemen. That is exactly what I am looking for. I was raised with morals, responsibilities, and manners; something I won't compensate for anything in my life. Lambda Chi's seem to act the same way. I wish I knew more Lambda Chi's, but unfortunately I only know one or two. Anyway, thanks again for all of your advice, you guys give me more reason to like this great Fraternity. WNG |

Nice to see your percpetions of what LXA stands for - I only wish that could be said of 100% of our chapters. Fortunately, I think it could be send for a large majority, but, I strive for the ideals.... If you haven't read it, read Machiavelli - you'll like the well-rounded approach... Best wishes to you in your quest. ZAX... |
As for rushing with blinder's on, I am trying my hardest not to. As of now, there are 5 or 6 that I am interested in, out of the 16 on campus. Due to the fact that I've been at LSU for a year and have been able to see what the different fraternities are about, it's hard not have my mind made up to a certain degree.
I'm glad to hear that my views on what a fraternity should be are alligned with those of LXA, if they weren't...well, I would have to look at others. Granted, not all fraternities are the same at each campus, but it's good to hear that Lambda Chi is solid throughout the country. I have not read Machiavelli, but I'll look into it. Right now I'm reading The Davinci Code...GREAT book. WNG |
