Why I love Richmond
There's a river. And a park. Um......and fish. I love the fish.
|
I love Richmond because when I'm driving down to the Carolinas it's sort of like a "I'm south now" marker.
But really, my heart is in Petersburg. |
Richmond....
My first experience with Richmond was in 1997 when I was helping move in my cousin to Virginia Union to start his freshmen year. I thought it was kinda dumpy. I went back two years ago and I saw a lot of improvement which is good, but still it has a long way to go. Oh yeah, what I like about Richmond is its rich history. |
The private college I went to was nice.
|
I thought Richmond was pretty but I had no idea what people did there.

I love shopping on Cary Street in Richmond :) I spent a summer at U of R, and it's one of the most gorgeous campuses I've seen.

One of my sisters, a die-hard NYC girl relocated to Richmond last year when Phillip Morris NYC sent most of their employees there. She loves it now. She said the cost of living is so much better and people are a whole lot nicer (????, New Yorkers not nice???? LOL). She is also building a house too. Go her.

when i was 4, i lived in richmond. believe it or not, i still remember things and places there. i know that i loved being there.
|
I'm not form that area, but my boyfriend's parents live in RIchmond, so I have been a bunch of times.
I love the parks. My boyfriend has taken me to a few, and we went to a wedding at the Botanical Garden one.. and they are absolutely beautiful! Also, I have yet to meet an unfriendly person in Richmond.. every time I have gone people.. even random people on stores will smile and say hello. Its rare to see that in my part of New England. Plus, I love Kings Dominion which is near by ;) :D |
I love that you can always find something to do....if you look hard enough.
|
Well it is the Capital of the state I was raised in! :)
Plus I know when going from my mom's house in Virginia Beach to where I used to live in Alexandria, I would cheer because Richmond would be the halfway point between VA Beach and the DC area! Also it is near King's Dominion! :) |
i miss richmond!!
UR's campus is so beautiful. i miss just walking around the lake. i miss carytown. i miss the james. i miss maymont. i miss all the museums--museum of the confederacy was the most interesting. i love the flowers and beauty everywhere. i love the cobblestones downtown. i loved being able to eat right at the grocery store! we need a ukrops in NY. now i'm sad because i haven't been there in almost a year and won't be there any time soon:( |

I'm from Richmond and am currently living here for the summer. It's so interesting to see what all of y'all say about it! It does have many good points....but I'm a little bored of it after living here my whole life. I will agree that for someone who's never been here there is tons to do. Problem is....I"ve done and seen it all (or at least, a lot of it)
Some GREAT things about RVA, however: -Maymont : beautiful gardens....i went to camp there when i was little -Ukrops': its a grocery store, but SO much more. hard to explain if you've never been there. i'm eating their rainbow cookies right now! -Carytown: totally unique/different than anywhere. i especially love the Byrd theater ($1 movies) -Bill's BBQ: fabulous BBQ and limeades -24 hr Krispy Kreme drive-through: definitely been there a WHOLE LOT |
Hell yeah River City.
And a shout out to the fish!!! We have fish downtown. They are built out of stuff, and placed around different parts of downtown. |
