Method Man and Red

Fox- June 16th.

I THINK I may watch this show, at least episode 1. There isn't anything else but reruns to watch.

Did anyone watch THIS foolishness?

WHAT A WASTE!

gamma_girl52 06-18-2004 02:46 PM

UNFORTUNATELY I did. It was a hot mess.

I give this show 3 more epps at MAX. The show wasn't funny (not to mention that dreaded laugh track put in here and there) and it was just too stereotypical for me.

I found the show to be a bunch of CRAP. Everyone critized Bill Cosby for his comments. Yet, people come up with shows that prove exactly what he was talking about. When will the MADNESS end

Method Man speaks about how he is disappointed with his OWN show

excerpt:

"I'm trying to keep this show ghetto, and there's a way for it to be both ghetto and intelligent," he said. "But it's not going that way."

In the show, Method Man and fellow rapper Redman play two hugely successful hip-hop stars who move into an affluent, predominantly white gated community in the suburbs.

The comedy drew more than 8 million viewers in its debut Wednesday, but that didn't minimize Method Man's dissatisfaction. He told the Los Angeles Times the series has veered from his original vision because some executives or writers tried too hard to appeal to "Middle America" with "lame jokes."

"I know what I wanted this show to be, but there's been too much compromise on our side and not enough on their side," he said. He didn't know the series would have a laugh track, he said, adding, "This show doesn't need it."

Is he really surprised? I mean, did he honestly think that the show on Fox was going to be true to HIS vision of "ghetto and intelligent"? I have a conception of what he wanted to do, but he should have the sense and the awareness of the entertainment industry to know that he was playing to that network and what that network wants to put on.
