Frater Reagan died today
 

It's is a sad day. My prayers are with Nancy and his family.

May I take a moment and Wish condolences to The Interfraternal Brothers of TKE, The Family and The Country for the Passing Of Your Brother Ronald Wilson Reagan!:(

He was A Great TKE, and A Great Leader for Our Country!:cool:

Looking back...
 

it was in 1959, my last year on the road for TKE, I was visiting
with Harrold Pierce "Tex" Flint...we were both at Beta Rho at the
U of Akron, one of our favorites....
we were talking to a bunch of undergrads...Chuck Evans was the
prytanis...tho married...it was early in the a.m. Bill Quallich was
there, too, and we were just having a skull session....
Tex said in an aside...how it came up I know not unless we were
talking about Illinois chapters and how many TKE leaders we got
from Eureka...He said "You watch that Reagan. He just might be
president some day." For some reason I retained this, and how
true....
Another anecdote, think Buckwheat or Bruce Melchert told me this....it was rush week at Eureka...and the Tekes had a banner
outside their then-new house. The banner said "Just because
you pledge TKE...does not necessarily mean you will become President....but it might.
R.I.P. frater Dutch...we all loved you.

I can honestly say that Frater Ronald Reagan was one of the main reasons that I joined this fraternity. As a kid during his administration, I remember with great fondness of him, that I was glad to have him as a president. Looking back, with more knowledge the government and the office of the presidency, I am more emboldened by his time in office. We as a fraternity and we as a nation, are fortunate to have had such true greatness in a leader.

We as Tekes have two responsibilities now to honor him. One, to raise as much money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association. We mustn't let his affliction die with him. We can honor his memory by helping defeat this horrible disease through philanthropical efforts. Second, we can hold our heads up high, as Americans (referring to our fraters here in the States). One of the greatest things that Reagan did during his administration was to make the American people proud to call themselves American again.

Words cannot express the sorrow I truly feel at this moment.

God Bless President Ronald Reagan, God Bless this fraternity, and God Bless the United States of America!

Would hanging both the TKE and American flags at half staff be appropriate? If so, I'll get on that tomorrow.

I really hope this increases the annual contributions to the charity.

WOW, I just turned on MSNBC and just found out about Frater Reagan. This is really sad news. God rest his soul.

I hope everyone has checked out IHQ's website regarding the death of President Reagan. They've done a great job there with some good pictures of him on there.

Hey guys - sorry for interrupting on your board :( but i had a question for you about Reagan as a TKE. A good friend of mine heard a story that apparently all fraternity and sorority handbooks or whatnot are kept in the library of congress I believe? He said that only the president could check these particular items out, and that while Reagan was president, he checked out the TKE manual and "forget" to return it, so its the only manual thats secrets aren't in the library. Has anyone else ever heard of this? If its true, its a great story, but I've found that things like this tend to be made up. Just curious what you guys thought! :)
