Legally Blonde: The TV Show

Quote:

MGM and Tribune Entertainment have sealed a deal to adapt Reese Witherspoon's Legally Blonde into a one-hour television series that will air on both a cable network and in syndication.

The tube version will seek to channel the same ditzy spirit of the original 2001 film and last year's sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red White & Blonde, as it follows Harvard's very own Perry Mason, Elle Woods, who uses her bubbly blonde smarts and bottomless knowledge of beauty tips to solve a cases.

Witherspoon--who earned a cool $15 million payday to reprise her role for the sequel--will not appear in the dramedy, which, like the movies, will draw its inspiration from the bestselling book by Amanda Brown.

I have a feeling this show will tank just like the Clueless TV show.

Clueless wasnt that bad. It was on for several seasons.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, do NOT cast Hillary Duff or Lindsey Lohan. . .give another blonde a chance. I choose Amanda from The Amanda Show or an unknown.

I LOVE that show! I found it by accident one day. I got hooked 'cause I really like Jennie Garth.

This show will most definately tank, just like the Clueless show did.

The problem is that these big shot producers and studios just see the dollar signs. I have no desire to watch a tv show based on a movie that isn't even three years old. Especially a movie that was extremely popular and where the main person, Reese, won't be starting in the tv show. Heck no!!!!!!

The problem is that I can only imagine Reese in the role of Elle Woods so it doesn't matter how talented the actress is that they cast in the role, in my eyes she will never measure up.

Plus, the problem with these tv shows is they completely negate the movies.

Me too! It's pretty darn funny. Love Amanda Bynes, too, but she plays charming/clumsy alot better than she would play rich sorority girl...I think....I could be wrong, though!

I don't know. It might do well it might not. Clueless was on for several season. Buffy was on for a number of seasons too.

I'd give it a chance.

I guess the thing is that the Legally Blonde movies are still so incredibly recent. Heck, the sequel just came out last year.

As for Buffy, the thing is Joss (Whedon, creator) was smart enough to wait four years before even attempting to get a TV show picked up. By then the movie was a little thing in the past. Yes, the movie didn't do as well as Legally Blonde, but I see that as a smart thing. Because with the movie being five years old before the show even started as a mid season replacement in February of 97, they could start this show the way they wanted.

I really believe that if you are going to make a tv show out of a movie, that you should wait at least 2-3 (if not longer) years. Until the popularity of it kind of "dies down". Where people will remember who the stars were but be a bit more willing to accept these new actors and actresses in the roles.

I really think that it will be hard for people to accept with Legally Blonde because the sequel did just come out last year.

Just my opinion.

If she Turned down the TV Series for her OWN movie I highly doubt she's going to sign up to take Reese's.

Although she is more into the TV thing now...I didn't realize until jus the other day that she was responsible for 'Braceface'...that show's actually kinda cute...
