The Legacy of Blackface
 

I know this might be better served elsewhere on GC, but I wanted any discussions to be respectful and enlightening. Hopefully, those not in the know will gain some insight.

But you did the right thing by putting it here.
Because maybe I'm old and cynical, but there are others in other parts of GC who just aren't receptive to the information. and for me, I think fighting is pointless.

Once again, I think those who aren't receptive have had no meaningful interaction with AfAms who aren't the go-along-to-get-along type.

Is it me or did anyone else ask themselves, "WHY IN THE HELL ARE THE WAYANS BROTHERS Made-up to look like white girls in their new movie!" Knowning very well that if another Blackface incident occured, We all would be on the front lines fighting for respect. It just pisses me off that we expect to be treated a certain way, when we don't carry ourselved in a dignified matter. "Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you!" :(

I don't think he meant that as an insult, but that was an interesting statement.

I'm feeling you. I think this is some of the underlying point of the Bill Cosby controversy. Why is there a willingness among some -- not all of us-- to be n***** and clowns?
