perspectives change as you age... |
When I was seventeen, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for small town girls and soft summer nights We'd hide from the lights on the village green When I was seventeen When I was twenty-one, it was a very good year It was a very good year for city girls who lived up the stair With all that perfumed hair and it came undone When I was twenty-one When I was thirty-five, it was a very good year It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls Of independent means, we'd ride in limousines their chauffeurs would drive When I was thirty-five But now the days are short, I'm in the autumn of the year And now I think of my life as vintage wine from fine old kegs From the brim to the dregs, it poured sweet and clear It was a very good year Frank Sinatra, "It Was A Very Good Year" Lessee... you can vote at 18, drink - legally - at 21, get a break on auto insurance, rent a car and run for the House of Representatives at 25, become eligible for the Senate at 30... and if you're native-born and 35, run for President. :) mmcat is correct when she mentioned that perspectives change as you age... as I approach the big 4-0, I look at the things I did when I was eighteen and wonder what the hell went on in my mind at that time. Things I considered quite normal when I was 20 I'd look on with disapproval at 40. |
You know in my recent practice class for grad school we were talking about life stages. My professor stated that some "theorists" believe 30 to be "middle-aged".

30 is the new 21 only as you approach (and pass) 21.

Ahhh 30 is such a good year...I feel like life just started..and yes, it's all about perspectives.

I said, "His midlife crisis is restoring a middle aged car." She said,"Hey, I'm not middle aged!" I said, "We're almost middle aged." I find it funny when people think that 50 is middle aged. Do they really think that they will live until they are 100? I think that 38 to 39 is actually middle aged since the life expectancy in the US is 77.2. |
