Al Sharpton running for president?
Is this rumor true?
If it is, what are your thoughts? |
Yes, it is true.
I don't think he is qualified. I am a Native New Yorker, and even though I don't follow politics closely, I know baffoonery when I see it. In my opinion, he is alot of hot air, no pun intended. Besides, do we REALLY need our first black male president to be a man who wear a DA**ED PERM? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif |

Seriously, though, I'd rather see someone like Harold Ford Jr. or even Jesse Jackson Jr. as our first black male president. Those men have substance and they are moderate. Politics in the U.S. is still based on the center, not the left. |
Call me whatever you want to call me.....but I could not ever vote for Al Sharpton http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

Rev. Sharpton is indeed running for president. I, too, am a native New Yorker. While his image isn't polished, he continues to center attention on issues that others would try to sweep under the carpet. I think he is more or less an activist than a politician. And, I think that he would make the bid as more of an activist Sharpton than president although that's not what is professed by those of his campaign. He wouldn't be able to get the funding from the Democratic party to go full scale. I do see him as a Lenora Fulani, running to get certain issues heard. Oh, how I appreciate the Third Party candidates for that alone.
As far as Sharpton being qualified, you all may know by now, that there aren't any iron qualifications except that you are a born citizen and above the age of 35. You can look at some of our previous presidents and even our current one to know that you don't have to have too much to run for president. Let Al run. Let him do what political activists do...bring attention to everyday issues. The mere fact that he's having Cornell West do his exploratory work for me tells me that he wants to be taken seriously. Hair and suits aside, Rev. Sharpton may have some things for everyone to consider differently in our approach to politics in the 21st century. ------------------ I will bless the Lord at ALL times His praise shall continually be in my mouth. I do think the relaxer needs to go, though. That is some mess. Everytime I see him, I wonder, is he married? Is he, y'all? My husband couldn't walk around like that. Sorry. Get a fade. |
Rev. Sharpton's wife is named Kathy. They have children, but the number escapes me right now.

Here's what I find interesting. If you've have read Race Matters and Cornell West's chapter on Black leadership, then you would be as surprised as I am that he is leading the exploratory effort for Sharpton. Any comments on that? Anyone? As ST has stated, the good Rev. is married. He and his wife Kathy have been married for over 20 years. They have two girl children. |

He was on the Tom Joyner show earlier this week saying that he intends to run for president. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif You are right, he is NOT qualified to be the president. That thought is soooo scary!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif I just couldn't bring myself to vote for him, regardless of what color he is. We are already in bad shape with the economic slowdown...Just think where we will be if he actually wins!! ------------------ You can send a message around the world in 1/7 seconds; yet it may take several years to move a simple idea through a 1/4 inch of human skull. |
Pretty Girls - don't hate cause the Rev. has shinny, bouncing, healthy hair. I think he has a better chance becoming the spokesperson for Dark and Lovely than president. Pretty :D
