You know a family reunion is good/sucky when...

It's summer summer time! That means a lot of family reunions.

They can be the best or worst thing ever.

Discuss. :p

I have to see the whole dad's side of my family in two weeks...BLAH. It's a HS graduation party and I'm only going because they came to mine.'

It's in the stupid Valley too. :(

It's good when you push your grandma into the pool, picnic tables, cooler, etc.

C'MON DIONYSUS, DO IT FOR US!

Bad: When the family nutjob shows up and threatens everyone for finding three of his illegitamate children from years past, inviting those children into the family, and him telling those kids to their faces they arent his and wants nothing to do with them (which in turn has caused the family to want nothing to do with the family nutjob but that's a separate long story).......

Good: There's never seemingly a dull moment at my family reunions..........

i always get the "OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE ITS LITTLE MAGGIE!!! AWWW SHE'S SOOO BIGGG WOW! WHAT GRADE ARE YOU IN NOW... 11TH??" (imagine in high screechy southern voice)

me:" yea i'm a senior in college"

them: "AH MY GAWD- CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?? FRANCIS- FRANCIS! GET OVER HERE- THIS IS LITTLE MAGGIE!!"

francis" jesus christ almight- i remember when you was just a little thang"

me:" yea... "

and so it goes... lol

i can't believe i'm distantly related to these people lol

and then my cousins and i consort to get away from the crowd and go get some beer lol

A family reunion sucks because it exists. I've never seen the point of going out of my way to reunite with people I don't like enough to see regularly.

LOL, bad attitude much? ;)

cutiepatootie 05-26-2004 07:56 PM

You know it isi a good family reunion when the first argument breaks out over something that happened 20 some odd yrs ago over something no one remembers correctly and it is a pety thing

Val, I agree with you sister!

3 things bring out the fool in folks:

Weddings
Funerals

and
Friggin' Family Reunions!

On a positive note...

It is a GREAT family reunion when....

There are deviled eggs on an appropriate plate. Deviled eggs are the only food that is appropriate for weddings, funerals, AND family reunions!

My momma makes green beans with fatback, "sweet tea," country fried ham, "co-cola" ham, taters au gratin, and angel biscuits...

When I get to see all of the older family members and listen to their stories. Each year more of the older generation seems to go on before us.

We get to play the annual family football game in the cow pasture, and only the "married-in" guy from up North gets hurt when he slides in a cow pile. Good grief. You are in a COW PASTURE! It is like life and taxes; if you don't watch where you step, you are going to be covered in it!

:D I love family reunions...usually attend 3 or 4 a year!

I really love my family reunions until someone asks, "So why aren't you married yet?"

Actually, it is great to see my cousins and their children. We have about 100 people at our reunions on a farm in upstate New York. My mother's cousin makes t-shirts and talks about his election campaign. We eat lots of food. We play softball, volleyball, and swim in the pond. We have a parade for the little children where we initiate them into the Pig's Head Society. They serve pork and keep the head to display just for the reunion.

Or...When are you gonna have kids? Which is why I am avoiding this family reunion

I love my family reunions! I live here in SC, and I always miss hanging out with my family which is primarily in NY/NJ/MD/PA. The next one is Manhattan, I am ready NOW...and I have until next summer. :(

all they have to eat are Toaster Strudels.

Dood, I wanna come to your family reunion! Theres only like 6 people in my close family and all my dads family live in Missouri and all live in the same town, so they've never had a reunion - everyday is a reunion. (were the black sheep who left for Texas)

I've never been to a reunion. :( My family isnt cool like that. I guess I could always marry into a big family....
