has anyone ever been on a cruise? i want to take my best friend on one for his 21st birthday (june of 2005 so i have a ton of time). i think it would be an awesome time away and a great way to celebrate a birthday.

what line did you go on?
what attracted you to that line?
would you sail on it again?

i am looking to not spend over $2200 for both of us for 7 days. i know there will be other expenses but that is okay. i looked at royal caribbean, disney (ew), and carnival so far. carnival seems to have reasonable prices ($850 up to $1000).

help me!! :)

the one cruise i looked up from carnival was 7 days on the victory ship and it was like every other day at sea with stops in mexico, caymen islands, jamaica and departing from miami. the other one i liked was departing from miami too and went to puerto rico, st marrten, and st thomas. that one has fri and sat as "fun days" hehe...days at sea.

fri and sat wouldnt be bad just cause that would be then end of the cruise and on the weekend...perfect time to drink! lol...i mean...yeah...oh well...

like i said i have a whole year to plan this so i am just trying to get as much info as possible!! thanks!!

I've been on a few..and finally decided they just aren't for me. I get insanely bored on the "at sea" days after the first one...My most recent was a Royal Caribbean venture in the Bahamas, when I was 10 we did the Disney Bahama cruise, and i've also done a Carnival cruise. Cruises can be great, since they're sort of all-inclusive..my only recommendations would be to definitely do a shorter cruise, and watch how many of the days are "at sea." Another note..RC seemed to be "cleaner"..but as another poster mentioned, both seemed to be more geared towards the older crowd.

I took the Staten Island Ferry and it lasted about a half hour. Not much in the way of activities.

I went on my first cruise back in March - it was on Carnival's Sensation. It was 5 days out of Tampa, FL. I was very disappointed. The entertainment was alright, the food was overcooked (although room service was excellent), the casino employees jip you, and I was bored. It seemed to me all the ship entertainment that I was interested in was going on while we were in port....which of course is not when I'm going to be on the boat! I just really did not have as good of a time as I thought I would. But that's just me. :D

Personally, I'd prefer to spend a week at an all-inclusive than to go on a cruise...it's so much more relaxing and there is more to do!

We did a Royal Carribean cruise in January and really enjoyed it. Most of the actual cruising was done overnight, so you spent all day in the various ports of call.

Our state room was small, but nice, the food was good (and VERY plentyfull) and the evening entertainment was great.

We pulled out of Nassau at midnight with a huge party with band, DJ, tons of food/drink etc. on the pool deck. Very neat.

You should know, though, that with any organized trip (by bus, ship, whatever) that the little side trips is where you spend your money.
