Arkansas Family Welcomes 17th CHILD

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...e/fifteen_kids

They need to donate some to the German childess couple. :p

Michelle, who home schools her children and is helping to build the family's new home in Tontitown from the ground up, started having her babies when she was 21, four years after she and Jim Bob married. He is a real estate businessman and a former state representative.

Their children include two sets of twins, and the parents have stuck to the letter "J" for their names. There is Joshua, 16; Jana and John-David, 14; Jill, 13; Jessa, 11; Jinger, 10; Joseph, 9; Josiah, 7; Joy-Anna, 6; Jeremiah and Jedidiah, 5; Jason, 4; James, 2; and Justin, 1.

Damn. She got married at 17!!!

My question is how does one afford all these kids???!!!

Steeltrap 05-25-2004 11:55 AM

Umm...

Dayum, that's a lot of kids. And how they stick to the J theme is beyond me.

Mr. Duggar, the daddy, is in real estate, and I imagine that the cost of living in Arkansas is rather low. So that's how Mrs. Duggar might be a stay-at-home mom.

ETA: I saw that picture and Mrs. Duggar needs to dress better. The plaid gingham jumper and Peter Pan collar look doesn't work for a grown woman.:p

They probably couldn't afford child care for all those kids.

...with 15 kids, it wouldn't appear she was dressing too much at all.

Yeah, no isht. She probably was in her gown most of the time, rolling over for Jim Bob when he got his need.

And yeah, I'm feeling a little snarky, but I get a nagging feeling that if we flipped the script and they were, say, Leroy and Shaquanda, there wouldn't be proclamations, etc. I'm thinking about that infamous Marion Barry TV appearance years ago when that woman, Jacqueline Williams, had 14 kids, was on the dole and Crackhead Barry told her to stop having kids and Ms. Williams smarted off about "God will tell me to have kids or something like that."

This was exactly what I thought about when I read the article. Folk may not want to admit it, but c'mon now.

I have known a few Irish Catholic families with over ten children including my family. My grandmother was the first of twelve as was her mother. That was a long time ago and is why I have so many cousins. My sister's ex-boyfriend was the fourteenth. My mother's boss has 18. It's rare, but not strange to me. :)

My father is the baby of 13.

If the parents were Leroy & ShaQuanda, and they were trying to stick with "J" names, it would have a been a hot mess.

Schools would have eventually been inudated with Jaquinetta; Jarius; Ja Rhonda; JayShaun; the twins Jamaal and Jamisha and so on and so forth.
