He Said What?!

I read an article on a site yesterday that quoted Mark Wahlberg as saying that his co-star, Helena Bonham-Carter, in "Planet of The Apes" looked like Janet Jackson while in her ape makeup! To make matters worse, the co-star actually agreed with his observation, and added something about her (Janet's) hair. Unfortunately, the link to the story no longer exists. I couldn't believe it. Has anyone else heard/read about this?

I haven't heard that one. If he said it, hopefully he meant it cynically (meaning JJ is attractive and the ape outfit was not). I sincerely hope he didn't say it though, I think it would hurt her (JJ) terribly if she read something like that. Did you see her article in Essence?

The article was on Charlotte.com yesterday. I'm not sure what message he was trying to get across.

WTF?!?!?!

This is my first time hearing about this... You'd think people would at least CONSIDER what they say before they say it.

i heard about it too... Janet Jackson is one of my favorite artist and i back her 110%, but "Marky" Mark Walberg is right i was looking at a pic in a magazine article on the movie... and that actress did show a striking to Ms. Jackson.... no offense to any Janet lovers, like i said i am a fan too.. and this is just my opinion

I hadn't seen the statement. In such a litigous society, I would think that he would have thought better of his statement before letting it come out of his mouth. My goodness! I guess he thought that it was a credit to their makeup team. Even still, there's room for being cautious.

I also think that he may not be sensitive to the racial undertones of his statement.

You know, I did an online search and have not been able to find a link to that story. Looks like it was also reported on MSN.com under the title "Fans Go Ape over Wahlberg comment", but the link doesn't take you to the actual story.

The only thing that I could find was some ignorant site that had pics of Janet & the ape pic side by side stating that Helena Bonham-Carter didn't play in POTA, but it was actually JJ. See what he's started?

Does anyone have a link or have they all been deleted?
