Thinking of moving/anyone made a major life transition like this?
Hey everyone. I am thinking of making a major life transition in the next year or two to the south (thinking Florida) or the southwest (texas, arizona, nevada, new mexico). I am looking to make contacts in these areas and basically find out anything and everything about living in these areas. I work in the social work/mental health field. What is rent and cost of living like? Is it easy to find apartments that let you have pets (I have 2 cats and a dog). Also if anyone works in social work/mental health or knows anyone who does in these states, I'd love to get into contact with you. Lastly, has anyone just uped and moved somewhere new like this far away from your family and friends? I'd love to hear your experiences. :)

I can answer your question about apartments, cost of living, etc. in Florida. Just let me know what part of Florida you're thinking of moving to.

hmm..major life transition for me=marriage, next month! Then moving across the country for dental school (for him). :)

I'm a huge advocate of taking chances/major life transitions prior to settling down! You will either a) get it out of your system, or b) find something that you enjoy much better.
Either way, it's much easier to do when you're single than married/committed. |
moving in with my boyfriend. i'm trying to distance myself from my family. i love them, but they try to control my life. (my brother knows what i'm talking about with that). i'm very happy here :)

yeah, i am definately 110% single now LOL. just got the news (which i new was coming) that the guy i was dating not too seriously is moving to florida in 3 weeks. i am kind of relieved though cuz i wasn't really "feeling it" with him. my uncle is friends with a recruiter who places social workers in the south and southwest so i asked him to get her into contact with me. i love ny but don't think i want to stay here forever. the cost of living is way too high and i just get annoyed with the fast pace and people being all about themselves all of the time (well not everyone but a large majority).
