How important is...
the letter s
I found this flyer at a school. The names have been changed to protect the real identities of the people. Shh! The fish fry is really a surprise bridal shower for Jane Doe and Mary Adams. Jane Doe is register at Hecht's Mary Adams is register at Dillard. Well I thought two women were getting married to each other. A fellow acquaintace told me I read it wrong. They were marrying different men. Damn, what made me think such a thing. It must have been the missing s in bridal showers. |
Hmmmm......if it's one bridal shower for two women, then I don't think there needs to be an S in there.
However, I am perplexed as to how I might reword it so that it's more accurate. A-ha! The word "both" should be in there....as in "bridal shower for both Jane Doe and Mary Adams." At any rate, it's funny. :) |
Life without the letter S
I would have made the flyer read a joint bridal hower for both of the ladie mentioned there.
orta like thi : hh! The fi h fry i really a joint urpri e bridal hower for Jane Doe and for Mary Adam . That' how I would reword it. I think the letter i very important. Without it we wouldn't be able to make lot of word . ee what I mean. |

Question
This may be off the topic but.
For same sex marriages involving two women., do they consider themselves Mrs.? Like Mrs. and Mrs.? or would that be buying into hetrosexual understandings of marriage? |

My gut feeling tells me they might mostly go by "Ms." |
