so many questions...whats your answer??
These are a series of questions that I have been thinking about...here are several
1.What makes a singer an artist? 2.Do you think its hard for talented singers to gain success b/c of always being compared to someone else in the same field of music? 3.Whats more important the talent or the catchy lyrics? 4.Do you find yourself purchasing cds from those who have REAL talent and getting bootleg on the aight stuff? |
1. What makes a singer an artist?
Either doing something innovative for the first time, or doing something someone else has already done but perfecting it. 2.Do you think its hard for talented singers to gain success b/c of always being compared to someone else in the same field of music? I think just the opposite, actually. If there is a particular genre of music that is popular at a given time (ex. the "whining women" in the mid nineties, boybands, poptarts), it is easier for similar performers to get attention because the public wants to hear more of a certain kind of music. Once the public's appitite is sated, however, the market becomes saturated and it becomes almost impossible for someone of that genre to become popular at that time. 3.Whats more important the talent or the catchy lyrics? For the average person who listens to the radio, I would think the catchy lyrics are more important. For someone who is passionate about a certain style of music, however, I believe the talent is more important. 4.Do you find yourself purchasing cds from those who have REAL talent and getting bootleg on the aight stuff? Nope, I don't do bootleg. But my cd collection is quite varied. |
1. What makes a singer an artist?
Being able to make a piece of music completely your own in a creative and meaningful way. 2.Do you think its hard for talented singers to gain success b/c of always being compared to someone else in the same field of music? Nope... if they are talented they will get credit, and I think being compared in the beginning helps them... at some point it becomes a hinderance though because you can reach that level of making music your own (see above) that makes you an artist in your own right. 3.Whats more important the talent or the catchy lyrics? For commercial success ??? Catchy beats AND lyrics... HENCE WE HAVE BRITNEY... who can't really sing.. ( and does NO real slow songs) yet is one of the more popular singers out there. For longevity of career... that takes TALENT.. 4.Do you find yourself purchasing cds from those who have REAL talent and getting bootleg on the aight stuff? Actually I kinda don't really purchase CDs anymore... I kinda go song by song but I do I tunes... but if a really like someone I'll buy the CD... if I just like the song I Download it. |
