Express Yourself?!!...

I was told by many people during my lifetime that I am not very expressive. It started to really hit home when I started dating a guy who is VERY expressive. He says that I don't tell him anything and its really starting to become a problem. We have had arguements over this and I told him that I would work on it, but that its not going to happen overnight. I am 22 yrs old and would really like to try to make things better.

My question is: How do you become expressive?

I asked my boss that and she said to let him know when things are good, when something is bothering you, if you feel a certain way, etc.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just say whatever you're feeling, no matter what the situation...Get drunk more, that usually helps...

That's what I was going to say! There's nothing like alcohol to loosen the tongue. :p

I wouldn't advise alcohol, unless you intend to be drunk all the time. And that's not called expressive. It's called a problem!

Maybe you could try doing something somewhat artistic in sort of a spontaneous way. In private would be better to start. Start a stream of consciousness writing. Write for 10 minutes, anything and everything. No one has to see it. Then burn it if you want. Move on to things like painting (think Jackson Pollock, but without all the nasty shit stuck in the paint). Maybe if you have any musical leanings, not necessarily talent, then just improvise. Once you're comfortable on your own, use that freeness in your daily life. Don't be so vanilla, inside-the-box. We're all a little quirky in our own way. Find yours!
