Who said that? (#2)
"There is no problem that cannot be solved by a damned good rush."
Who said that? ...now, write that down... |
Tex Flint?
|
Nope
I doubt Tex ever said 'Damn'
|
no, no
No, it was not Tex Flint, and I never heard him say 'damn.'
|
I bet that was James C. Logan.
|
him are right...again...
Yes, Frater James Clifford Logan, PhD, LLD, DTh, JD, Past Grand
Prytanis, Expansion Leader, Eagle recipient...said this while he was visiting the relatively-new Delta Nu chapter at Northwest Mo State...and the chapter heeded it...soon was one of the most successful TKE chapters.. "There is no problem that a damned good rush cannot solve." or something like that. Logan, unlike Flint..., said damn, which Tex would not use, but Jim was never rude. Arguably the most brilliant man I ever knew. |
And now, a trivia question for you Erik (maybe unfair, since you didn't become a Teke until that year, but what the heck)--
What Grand Officer participated with Grand Prytanis Jim Logan at the installation of Delta-Upsilon chapter in May, 1955? |
not sure, but....
I was at the KC Conclave in '55 and Logan pledged me in '54.
likely the GC with Jim to install that chapter was Howard Hibbs or Russ Salsbury...not sure, though. The UMKC chapter, killed out of mean-ness, ought to be back. Just another one of TKE's embarrassments, HQ's fault.... |
senior moment....duh
in my haste I did not read your post carefully. While Hibbs was in
St. Louis, Russ was in NE, and Logan liked Russ a helleva lot more than the colorless Hibbs...I think Mo Valley got Russ. I remember that chapter...one of my high school buddies was an Alpha Sig there and he would hardly talk to me when I arrived as a fielder! And we had both been boy scouts...together. Oh, well.... UMKC was Epsilon Lambda, a much later chartering...sorry! |
Silent treatment from the Alpha Sigs...
Erik is correct. It was Russ Salsbury with Jim Logan at the MVC installation. Russ was a good friend, sage advisor, and frequent visitor to the chapter thereafter.
Interesting that your AS friend would barely talk to you on campus. When I arrived at MVC, the freshman dorm was full and I was housed in the AS house--my roommate as their vice president. John was a very nice guy and really helped me to get settled on campus-- introduced me to many students, faculty and staff. I thought a lot of him. The day after I pledged TKE and moved out of the AS house, I ran into him on campus. When I spoke to him, he remained silent and turned away. Never again said a word to me even though I continued to greet him whenever we met on campus. Ah, the callow ways of youth. |
HimAreMe, Told you my money was on E C!:D

gosh...
Think I will stick to the Tau site, as my postings in the General
Forum either seem mis-understood or mis-read and some of the angry folks eat me alive...or it seems that way...BUT, as I look at the posts, over a hundred read 'em and one or two take real exception. They must have had a hard stool or wear dirty underwear...as I mean all positive things, try to make us all feel good and endeavor to promote good will amongst the greeks. But some are sure hostile...and a lot of angry old hens as well as defensive weenies...now, that is not kind...oh, well....it is indeed more comfortable in here and you guys are sure patient with me. And my pal, Tom, the Lambda Chi english major and permanent paper-grader! LOL. We must all maintain a sense of humor! |
