Is Homecoming a Holiday to you?

I loooooooooooove Homecoming. In fact, I love it so much, I just told my friend that it was my favorite Holiday, tied with Christmas.

And my school doesn't even have Homecomings the magnitude of schools with a big greek life, or an HBCU, like Howard.

I just love it! Seeing all the old heads come back, putting all the old beef to the side, enjoying all the festivities, seeing all the old hotties get HOTTER with age.

*sigh*

Does anyone else love homecoming as much as I?

lol i guess i never thought about it that way before- it is a lot of fun! i love seeing all the alumni downtown and having tons of sisters around- also greekweek and the festivities is so much fun (though we all want to kill each other by the end lol) i wouldn't say its my favorite holiday- (for those of you from central new york area- i'd have to say my fave holiday is CORTACA!) but i def do like it

Oh yeah.

Homecoming is definitely a holiday at South Carolina State, which is an HBCU in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The parade, the tailgate, the game, the concert, the afterparties. All in the same day.

The old friends coming back to campus.

Those are the things that make football season. And furthermore having a football team great.

I'm ready for the half-time show now.

I LOVE Homecoming too. I'm sure it quite falls into the realm of "holiday" but it's damn close.

Is Homecoming a Holiday? You better believe it!

Went to homecoming last October at my alma mater, North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro (AGGIE PRIDE!!!) for the 1st time in about 4 years. I was sooo hyped, I couldn't stand it! Had a blast!

Was totally exhausted trying to go to work the following Monday, but every ache was worth it. After the game, everybody goes up on the plots (greek areas) and watch the old school frats step and the ladies stroll.

And halftime - wow! That's a show within itself! Don't know if I'll be going back this year, but it's definitely an experience each and every time, especially seeing the school grow from when I attended.

My stupid school doesn't have stupid Homecoming and it stupid sucks.

They do make up for it by giving seniors a special week to binge drink.

I never thought of it as a holiday, but I try to go back every year. It's great to see old friends and walk the beautiful campus again.

We don't need a Homecoming anymore. Our football team has been undefeated since 1939.

Mostly because we don't have one.

Ours has been undefeated since the 60s. ;) We do have a club team now though.

Well if you enjoy Homecoming so much, I suggest that next fall you come visit my lovely school as it is the place where Homecoming was originally founded. Homecoming at Mizzou is absolutely out of control, and some people think it's a little ridiculous but if you enjoy homecoming I am sure you would love how we do it around here. :D

I don't necessarily consider it a holiday, but the week of Homecoming classes kind of get overlooked b/c there is so much going on and soooo much left to do so it might as well be a holiday since no one goes to classes anyway. ;)

I would enjoy it a lot more if I ever got to go to one! In the three years I've been out of school, I've only been able to go back once (right after I graduated) because of my stoopid husband and his stoopid brother. :p He promised me we get to go back this year and we'd better since the only other reason to go back to Iowa State when you're an alum has been cancelled for next year! ;)

I suppose my school does "Homecoming". It in Spetember just after school starts and it's a weekend affair. It's not a big to do though. Most don't notice it's homecoming.

Eh. I think it was a lot more fun when I was an active, actually.

University of Kentucky Homecoming ---YES!
( Where I used to go and still know people in undergrad and grad. there)

Eastern Kentucky University---NO! (where I transferred to and currently have come back to for a second degree).


Basically the tailgaiting and parties and sports and what not are just on too small of a scale for my taste at EKU. I need big time crazy tailgaiting and big stadium sports like at UK(regardless of how good or bad the team is).

At my undergrad school, yes. IT's pretty much a big deal, and every hotel in town is booked for the weekend. It's almost always followed by the Royal Military College's Homecoming (they call it something else, but I don't remember what it is). There are pub events that cater to various decades, and the nice cafeteria is always closed down for alumni dinners. At U of Toronto, however, homecoming is pretty quiet. I think the football team has only won one game since 2000 or something like that.
