hair styling question

sorry guys, another chick thread :D

Ok, I have thick hair that has like 2 or 3 waves in it. i was wondering how to get that wavy hair that all the celebrities have (like jessica simpson, lindsay lohan, etc.) ??? i try scrunching it while it's wet, but that just makes it frizzy when it dries. any ideas?

one of my roomates does this.. but she scrunches it w/ lots of gel.. then blow dries it on low. Her hair is more curly than wavey though. It's worth a shot, right? :)

I do this. Like Mary Kate & Ashley--? I put lots of product in it. Actually I put Paul Mitchell "Straight" in it. It doesn't make it straight, just keeps it from being frizzy. and I use Redken Extreme Anti snap...and some kind of hair wax when it dries. The thing is my hair is stick straight so I have to spiral curl it when I dry it. It looks more curly than wavy though at first...but after about an hour it kinda falls & has the wavy look. The whole process takes a looooong time but when I'm finished I like it so sometimes I don't mind the long process.

Be careful if you do the braids because if you make too many, you will have scary crimps instead of waves.

I use Curl Catalyst by Back to Basics. It's a gel as opposed to a mousse or spray so it won't dry your hair out. Oh, and let your hair air dry as much as possible, and for the blow drying you do have to do, use a diffuser.

I have thick wavy hair. I use a curl-enhancing spritz and the Frizz Ease anti-frizz cream, Step 4 I think. I mix them together in the palm of my hand and then put it through my hair. Then I scrunch a bit and also take random pieces and twirl them around my fingers, so they make spiral waves. I let it air dry. The Frizz Ease cream should help cut down the frizz while still letting it curl.

I can't seem to get it right when drying my hair with a diffuser -- it just poofs funny. Any tips on that?

I heard gel works well.

I have a question myself...my hair is straight, and I like wearing it straight because I don't have to fight with it, so what is a good haircut I could get? It's all one length now but I'm getting bored with that...but I don't want to lose too much length. :p

I also have really straight hair that was all one length for a while-decently long. My stylist lightened it by making very shaggy, choppy layers. It grows out really nicely, so it doesn't look awful between haircuts. It also gives my hair some more body.

Okay, i have pretty straight hair but it holds curl pretty well. I mix gel, hand lotion (jergens works wonders) and Biosilk (available at beauty supply stores) in my hand and scrunch it through my hair. I then kind of dry my hair but not all the way and then put my hair into a messy bun. It takes practice but you'll figure out which way your hair looks the best. Okay that is the least times consuming way for those curls. If you're going out I recommend putting some sort of snti frizz product in your hair and blowdrying without really styling your hair. Then take a curling iron and wrap your hair around the iron without putting the ends in and do this all over. Depending on your hair cut it will give a cute deconstructed wavy look. It takes a while to do but it's worth it. I recommend having some layers to get the look your going for (not that I am an expert :)!) Good luck, practice is the best way to get the look you want. I've experimented a lot and this works for me! Hope it helps!

I had mine layered last year and it was okay, except I couldn't ever go without styling it. Took forever to dry and curl cuz it's stick-straight normally, but when it was finally poofy and curled under I loved it. Now my hair's thinning and I just hate spending the time to style it. So, I chopped it all off and I love that, too. Sometimes I wish it was still long, but then I look at that evil monstrosity of a curling iron and thank myself for cutting it off.

ok, i have a nother hair question...

it seems like i'm losing hair like crazy. every time i run my hand through my hair, there's a strand or two. or when i take a shower, i'm always having to clean out the hair. i swear i should be bald by now, but i still have a lot of hair (thank god). does anyone know why this is? or what i can do to fix it?

_Opi_ 05-22-2004 12:50 PM

I heard that its ok to lose about 100 hair a day.

or was that per week?

Glitter650 05-23-2004 01:12 AM

Use lots of conditioner and get regular trims I shed like crazy cause my hair tends to be dry and kinda brittle... but I don't think you'll go bald... I think everyone loses hair in the shower.

cutiepatootie 05-24-2004 02:44 PM

Don't they still have those hot bendable sticks that you let your hair dry in or plug in and let it curl that way? i use to swear by those and the curuso curlers to get the curl.
