Fahrenheit 9/11
I was just wondering if anyone knew very much about Michael Moore's new movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" or if anyone had maybe seen a bootleg copy. I know this movie has been in the news a lot lately and did well at the Cannes film festival - CNN article - but I still can't really find a detailed description of the movie. I'm a Bush supporter, but I'm interested to see the movie just to see what Moore says.

Haven't seen it but no doubt Moore'll be saying his usual round of unsubstantiated highly questionable "facts".
Typical of Moore accusing the Walt Disney Company of stifling his free speech by allegedly blocking distribution because hmmm the Walt Disey company is reaaaally an actor of Congress. You'd think he'd be able to grasp that given his great political knowledge ha-ha. The film was probably just complete crap that's why. Okay, I'm done for now. :D |
Last I read, Disney won't release it. You can check out http://www.michaelmoore.com/ for more details.

Michael Moore should just start his own production company. That way he can release what ever the hell he wants.

Without going into too much detail (stacks of stuff I should be doing as we speak) it's a case of production companies vs. distribution companies.
His is a small company, obviously no ownership or part-ownership in major cinema chains or alliances with foreign distributors, stuff like that, or big advertising budgets etc. |
Production company DOES NOT EQUAL distribution company.
Basically, MM's film was funded in part, or maybe all, by Miramax. Disney, owner of Miramax, would not distribute it because of the overt political overtones. Max and Harvey Weinstein (I may be wrong on the last name) are trying to find another distributor. This may be difficult in the US, but it is being distributed by European companies. It was well-received at the Cannes Film Festival. MM really should have known that Disney wouldn't release it. |
Ok. I get it now.
So why didn't Disney come down on Mirimax when it decided to fund the film, rather than wait till it was completed? |
