Paddles
 

HI Ladies.

WHat kinda paddles do you guys use??? Anchors & Boats or the regular traditional paddles?

Or..do you only get one when you graduate...i know some sororities do that ie. Alpha Phi - your lil sis makes you a paddle when you graduate.

At our chapter we do the anchors & boats. (big makes the anchor, the lil makes the boat - then exchange); its cute but i like the traditional ones too. So my big and I made one for each other for senior aloha. HAHAHHAHAA

I have 4 lil sis' so i have like 4 boats on my wall!!! HAHAHAH

I wanna see your guys' paddles...so please show ok!!! :)

At our chapter we didn't have paddles, we had wooden anchors. You were given a plain wooden anchor as a pledge, and you had to decorate it yourself however you wanted. Then there was one special night (I think it was part of initiation, but I can't remember) when you went around to all the members and they signed the back.

The anchor and boat idea sounds cute!

Since the little sisters get so spoiled by their bigs in the weeks leading up to initiation...the little's decorate anchors for their bigs and present them to the bigs after initiation.

In my chapter, the bigs make anchors for the littles, and the littles make paddles for their bigs!

At UGA, our littles give us Anchors on initiation night.

we have a night called inspiration (inspo).. the night before initiation... and the big gives the lil an anchor (wood).. and the lil gives the big a boat (also wood)...

we have paddle exchange night and you can pretty much make whatever kinda of paddle you want. Some people even use an orr as a paddle. But anyway the rituals director sends a letter home to all the new member's parents and the mom or dad or whoever writes a letter to the new member and tells a few funny stories or sad ones anyway its pretty much a congrats for being initiated. They also sends pictures from when they were little till they left for college. Its really cute and its been a long going tradition at my chapter.
